THIS WEEK'S OPPONENTS...
The Cleveland Barons (San Jose) are currently 7th in the North Division with 23 points and have a 10-12-1-2 record... The Barons are coming off a 5-1 win over Cincinnati on December 12th and are 3-6-0-1 in their last 10 games... Both team split a two game set in St. John's back in October which saw Leafs forward Kyle Wellwood tally a team record five goals in the Leafs 8-3 win... Cleveland is ranked 13th in the AHL with the man advantage at a 15% success rate and are 26th overall while killing penalties at 76.5%... Ryan Clowe leads the Barons with 17 points (6G,11A) in 25 games this season... Left-winger Tomas Plihal has five points including three goals in his last 10 games... This will be the first of four appearances this season at Gund Arena for the Maple Leafs.
The Rochester Americans (Buffalo) are currently 3rd the North Division with 32 points and have a 13-7-3-3 record... The Americans defeated the Maple Leafs in their only meeting of the season November 28th by score of 4-3... The Americans are currently winless in their last three games (0-1-0-2) and are 5-2-1-2 in their last 10 games... Rochester is 11th overall with a 16.4% success rate and are 9th overall while playing shorthanded at 86.7%... Center Derek Roy has 26 points (6G,20A) in 26 games this season... Left-winger Thomas Vanek is 3rd in AHL rookie scoring with 18 points including 11 goals in 24 games. Vanek has 12 points in his last 10 games. David Ling (RW): Ling is currently on a six-game point streak (1-7=8).
The Binghamton Senators (Ottawa) are 4th in the East Division with 29 points and have an 12-11-3-2 record... The Maple Leafs defeated the Senators twice this season Both games were played at the ACC in Toronto in front of a combined crowd of 27,000 fans... The Senators are 5-8-1-1 on the road this season and are coming off a 3-2 loss at Provicence December 12th... Binghamton is 7th in the league while on the powerplay at a 17.3% success rate and are 27th overall while killing penalties at 78.5%... Jason Spezza has 13 points including 12 assists in his last 10 games... Center Antoine Vermette has two goals and an assist in two games against the Leafs this season.

- Goaltender Jean Sebastein Aubin had two wins in two games last week to improve his record to 3-1-0. He also recorded his first shutout of the season in a 2-0 win over Portland last Friday.

MAPLE LEAFS TO WATCH...
Nathan Barrett (LW): Barrett has nine points (4G,5A) in his last 10 games.
Jean Sebastein Aubin (G): Aubin recorded two victories last week and improved his record to 3-1-0.
Kyle Wellwood (Center): Wellwood leads the team in points (31), goals (15) and
Brad Leeb (RW): Leeb tallied five goals in four games last week including a hat trick last Wednesday against Grand Rapids.

MAPLE LEAFS PLAYER OF THE WEEK...
The St. John's Maple Leafs have nominated right-winger David Ling as the St. John's Maple Leafs Player of the Week for the period ending Sunday, December 12th. In four games last week, Ling recorded five assists (5A) was E and had 14 shots on net to help lead the Maple Leafs to a 3-1-0-0. Ling is currently on a six-game point streak (1-7=8) and is second in team scoring with 30 points (8G,22A) in 27 games.
Ling's highlights include two assists last Tuesday in a 3-2 win over Grand Rapids. Ling set up the first goal of the game and rookie Matt Hubbauer's gamewinner at 11:03 of the third period. On Friday, Ling was once again the catalyst for the Maple Leafs by setting up the game's first goal and eventual gamewinner in 2-0 win over Portland. Finally, on Saturday night, Ling assisted on Kyle Wellwood's15th goal of the season at 4:05 in the overtime frame to give the Maple Leafs a 2-1 come from behind victory and record their third win of the week. David Ling has helped the team move into 2nd place in the North Division, one point behind the Manitoba Moose.
THIS WEEK IN LEAFS HISTORY...
December 19, 1992 - Dave Tomlinson's second goal of the game at the 23 second mark of overtime lifts St. John' s past the visiting Halifax Citadels 6-5.
December 14, 1994 - Kelly Fairchild ties a franchise record previously set by Yanic Perreault and Todd Gillingham by scoring four times in a 7-5 loss at Syracuse.
December 15, 1995 - Newly acquired Peter White, the defending AHL scoring champ, scores twice as the Leafs blast the P.E.I. Senators 6-1 in Charlottetown.
