
Crunch Sign Perennial All-Stars Chris and Peter Ferraro to American Hockey League Contracts

Syracuse, NY (December 13, 2004) â The Syracuse Crunch announced today that they have signed perennial all-stars, center Chris Ferraro and right wing Peter Ferraro to American Hockey League contracts. They are expected to join the team in time for practice on Tuesday, December 14.
"We are thrilled to get two players of this caliber at this point in the season," said Howard Dolgon, Crunch President and CEO. "They are energetic, highly competitive players with a proven track record in the American Hockey League."
"With respect to the competitiveness of our division, both the Blue Jackets and Crunch ownership looked at ways to generate additional offense," said Jim Clark, Executive Vice President and Assistant General Manager of the Columbus Blue Jackets. "The Ferraros have shown to be proven offensive producers in the American Hockey League. The coaching staff and myself are excited about putting them in the line-up"
Chris Ferraro, 31, has appeared in 12 games with Sodertalje SK (Swedish Elite League) this season, recording 1 goal, 4 assists and 57 penalty minutes. In 433 career AHL games with Binghamton, Hamilton, Providence, Albany, Portland and Springfield, Chris has tallied 169 goals, 254 assists and 851 penalty minutes. He has appeared in three AHL All-Star Classics (1997, 1999 and 2003). Chris was the co-recipient (Eric Healey) of the AHL's Fred T. Hunt Memorial Trophy for sportsmanship, determination and dedication to hockey. He has led his AHL team in scoring two times (Hamilton - 1998-99 and Albany - 2001-02). In 1994-95, while at Maine (HE), Chris was named to the Hockey East's All-Rookie Team. Chris has recorded 7 goals, 9 assists and 57 penalty minutes in 74 career NHL games with Rangers, Pittsburgh, Edmonton, New York Islanders and Washington. A native of Port Jefferson, New York, Chris was originally drafted by the New York Rangers as their fourth choice, 85th overall, in the 1992 Entry Draft.
Peter Ferraro, 31, has appeared in 12 games with Sodertalje SK (Swedish Elite League) this season, recording 2 goals, 1 assist and 6 penalty minutes. Peter has played in 523 career AHL games with Binghamton, Hartford, Providence, Portland and Springfield, Peter has recorded 229 goals, 310 assists and 1,102 penalty minutes. He has played in three AHL All-Star Classics (1997, 2001 and 2003). Peter was a member of the 1994 U.S. Olympic team (Lillehammer, Norway), scoring six goals in eight games. He has led an AHL team in scoring six times (Binghamton 1995-96 and 1996-97, Providence 1999-2000 and 2000-01 and Portland 2001-02 and 2002-03). He led Providence in 1998-99 to the Calder Cup Championship, leading the Bruins in playoff goals and points en route to winning the Jack A. Butterfield Trophy (Playoff MVP). Peter was named to the 1996 AHL First All-Star Team. Peter has recorded 9 goals, 15 assists and 58 penalty minutes in 92 career NHL games with Rangers, Pittsburgh, Boston and Washington. A native of Port Jefferson, New York, Peter was the first native New Yorker to be selected in the first round of the NHL Entry Draft when he was the New York Ranger's first choice, 24th overall, in the 1992 Entry Draft.
Since 1990-91, Peter and Chris have played on the same team 13 different times (Dubuque â USHL, Waterloo â USHL, Maine â Hockey East, Team USA â National Team, Atlanta â IHL, Binghamton â AHL, New York Rangers â NHL, Pittsburgh â NHL, Providence â AHL, Washington â NHL, Portland, AHL, Springfield â AHL and Sodertalje SK â Sweden) and were both members of the 1993 NCAA Champion Maine Black Bears as freshman. In 2003, both were named co-captain of the PlanetUSA squad at the 2003 AHL All-Star Classic.
The Crunch hosts Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Friday, December 17. On Saturday, December 18, Rochester visits Syracuse for the first-ever DestiNY USA Teddy Bear Toss.
