
Sound Tigers Win Third Straight At Home

The Sound Tigers have won three straight home games, with a 4-2 win over the AHL-leading Manchester Monarchs this past Friday being the latest victory. The Sound Tigers followed Friday's home win with a 3-1 road loss to the Hershey Bears Saturday and finished last week in fifth place in the East Division with 26 points and a 13-11 record, including 11-2 at home and 2-9 on the road.
FRI DEC 10th vs. MCH, 4-2 W: The Sound Tigers jumped out to a 3-0 lead and held on to hand Manchester just its third loss of any kind in 23 games to that point this season. ROB COLLINS opened the scoring at even strength and added the game-winning goal on an unassisted, shorthanded effort. ERIC GODARD also scored, JUSTIN PAPINEAU had two assists and WADE DUBIELEWICZ made 32 saves for his second win in a row. The Sound Tigers were 0 for 4 on the power play and won despite being outshot 34-25 by the Monarchs who were 1 for 9 on the advantage.
SAT DEC 11th at HER, 3-1 L: The Sound Tigers started short one skater due to injuries then lost another player late in the game. ROB COLLINS scored the team's lone goal on the power play. TOM LAWSON made 35 saves for Hershey, including 18 in the third period alone when the Sound Tigers set a team, season-high mark with 19 shots in the frame. ERIC PERRIN assisted on the three Bears' goals by MAREK SVATOS, MATHIEU DARCHE and JAMIE RIVERS. The Sound Tigers were 1 for 7 on the power play while Hershey was 3 for 5 as all of the scoring was done on the advantage. The Sound Tigers outshot the Bears 36-30.
SOUND TIGERS PLAYER OF THE WEEK â RW ROB COLLINS Collins earned his third nod in as many weeks by notching points in each of last week's games. The Peterborough, Ontario native ended last week with points (7g,5a) in seven of the last eight games and on a two-game goal streak (3g) and four-game point streak (5g,2a). Collins also finished last week tied with SEAN BERGENHEIM for the team lead with nine goals and leading the team with 18 points, four game-winning goals and two unassisted goals and +7 in 23 games.
THIS WEEK â Wednesday Visit By Hershey Precedes Weekend Road Trip
The Sound Tigers will host Hershey this Wednesday before heading out of town for a two-game-in-two-night weekend road trip versus the Binghamton Senators this Friday and the Portland Pirates this Saturday.
WED DEC 15th vs. HER, 7:05 p.m.: This will be the third of eight meetings of the teams this season, the first of four at Bridgeport's Arena at Harbor Yard. The Sound Tigers are 5-8-3 all-time versus the Bears, including 1-1 this year and 2-1-1 at home last season. Hershey finished last week in seventh place in the East Division with 23 points and a record of 11-15-1, including 6-9 on the road. The Bears do not play again until Wednesday.
FRI DEC 17th at BIN, 7:05 p.m.: This will be the third of eight meetings of the teams this season, the second of four in Binghamton. The Sound Tigers are 7-8-1 all-time versus the Senators, including 1-1 this season with each team winning 3-2 at home. Binghamton finished last week three points ahead of the Sound Tigers in fourth place in the East Division with 29 points and a 12-11-3-2 record, including 7-3-2-1 at home. However, the Sound Tigers have played four fewer games than Binghamton who does not play again until Friday.
SAT DEC 18th at POR, 7:05 p.m.: This will be the second of four meetings of the teams this season, the second and final in Portland. The Sound Tigers are 6-3 all-time versus the Pirates, including 1-0 this year. They were 2-0 versus Portland last season winning two times in overtime, once at home and once on the road. The Pirates finished last week in sixth place in the Atlantic Division with 25 points and a 10-11-3-2 record, including 8-6-0-1 at home but just 2-6-2 in their last ten games and on a three-game winless skid at 0-2-1. Portland will host the Worcester IceCats this Tuesday and visit the Hartford Wolf Pack this Friday.
