December 13, 2004 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Hershey Bears News Release
Last Week: The BEARS opened the week on Friday at Wachovia Center in Philadelphia and defeated the Phantoms 4-3. Carl Corazzini was named the game's number one star for scoring two goals, including the game-winner against Antero Niittymaki midway through the third period. Mathieu Darche and Ryan Steeves also scored goals in the win over Philly. Saturday night the BEARS returned home to begin a stretch of nine home games in ten and defeated the Bridgeport Sound Tigers 3-1. Marek Svatos and Jamie Rivers both scored goals and added assists while Eric Perrin was named the game's number one star for assisting on all three HERSHEY goals. The BEARS scored three power play goals in the game as well. Sunday, the BEARS stumbled to finish the week, falling to the Lowell Lock Monsters 4-0 at GIANT Center. HERSHEY enters the final week before the holiday break with a record of 11-15-1-0, good for seventh place in the American Hockey League's East Division.
Notables: The three power play goals that the BEARS scored Saturday night represents the best power play output in a single game this season. Eric Perrin became the first HERSHEY skater this season to notch three assists in one game on Saturday night against Bridgeport. With an assist on the game-winning goal in addition to his three playmaker night Saturday, Perrin is HERSHEY'S nominee for CCM Vector/AHL Player of the week for the period ending December 12. Brett Clark is one of two AHL defenseman currently leading his team in scoring. Clark picked up his 19th assist Saturday night in a victory over Bridgeport. The win at Philadelphia was the first victory over the Phantoms since April 5, 2003 when Peter Budaj won 4-2 at GIANT Center. The win snapped a 16 game losing skid to HERSHEY'S turnpike rivals. Wednesday's game at Bridgeport is the final road game of 2004 for the BEARS. The club will host its first ever three games in three days entirely at home this weekend hosting Albany, Manchester and Syracuse. John Walton and abc-27 sports director Gregg Mace will call the game Saturday night on television.
