San Antonio Rampage News Release

CHICAGO 5 - RAMPAGE 0: The Wolves, benefiting from an interference call against Gregory Campbell, capitalized on their power play opportunity at the 15:05 mark. Lonny Bohonos, with an assist from Greg Hawgood and Steve Maltais, put a shot past a sprawling Travis Scott. Just 30 seconds later, Karl Stewart scored from Derek MacKenzie and Brian Maloney. The Rampage managed to outshoot the Wolves in the opening stanza, 11-10, but were unable to get one past goalie Kari Lehtonen. In the second period, Kevin Doell, with the help of JP Vigier and Ben Simon, tallied his first goal of the season. For the game, the Rampage managed to stay even on shots, 31-31, but Lehtonen got the best of them. Scott finished the game with 26 saves. The Rampage also managed to fend off 7 power play opportunities from the Wolves who finished 2 of 9 for the game. The Rampage were 0 for 4 on the power play.

UTAH 0 - RAMPAGE 5: At 13:29, Stephen Weiss got the Rampage on the board. Greg Campbell and Juraj Kolnik got the assists as Weiss was able to hold off a defender and slide the puck around a diving LeNeveu. Weiss' goal, his sixth of the year, would hold up to be the game-winner as Patrick DesRochers turned away 24 shots to earn his second shutout this season. Greg Jacina recorded his team leading 6th and 7th goals 36-seconds apart. The goals were the fastest goals scored by a player in Rampage history. Filip Novak scored in the second period, while Lou Dickenson scored his first career AHL goal to seal the 5-0 win.

UTAH 3 - RAMPAGE 2: Stephen Weiss extended his point-scoring streak to six games and forwards Rob Globke, Juraj Kolnik and Josh Olson stretched their point streaks to two games as the team concluded their sixth game in eight nights. After 140-plus minutes without allowing a goal against the Grizzlies, DesRochers' shutout bid was snapped when Utah's Kiel McLeod scored a power-play goal at the 19:41 mark of the opening period. Rampage's Kolnik re-directed a Joel Kwiatkowski shot past netminder Jean-Marc Pelletier for his fourth goal of the season to knot the game at two midway in the second frame. Pelletier was traded to the Phoenix Coyotes from the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for DesRochers on Dec. 31, 2002. Utah's Rick Berry scored his first goal since Oct. 15 to take the lead again in the second until the San Antonio's Globke, a rookie from Notre Dame, scored with .2 seconds remaining in the period for the equalizer. Utah's Jeff Taffe scored the game-winner at 10:19 in the third as the Rampage (9-10-2-4) closed out their fifth consecutive home game. DesRochers stopped 21 shots tonight as the Rampage outshot the Grizzlies 33-24.
