
River Rats' Suglobov named CCM Vector/AHL Player of the Week

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. ... The American Hockey League announced today that Albany River Rats right wing Aleksander Suglobov has been named the CCM Vector/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending December 12, 2004. In three games, Suglobov recorded five goals and two assists for seven points as the River Rats earned five of a possible six standings points.
Suglobov matched a career high with four points in a 5-4 shootout loss to Providence on Wednesday night. He recorded two goals and two assists in that game, including the game-tying goal in the final minute of regulation. Suglobov came back with a goal in Friday's 5-2 win at Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, then picked up two more goals, including the winner at 49 seconds of overtime, as Albany beat Binghamton on Saturday, 3-2.
In recognition of his achievement, Suglobov will be presented with an etched crystal award prior to an upcoming River Rats home game.
A native of Elektrostal, Russia, Suglobov was a second-round draft choice (56th overall) by the New Jersey Devils in 2000. The 22-year-old forward currently leads Albany with 11 goals and shares the team lead with 20 points in 23 games this season, and in 58 AHL contests over the last two seasons, Suglobov has tallied 22 goals and 20 assists for 42 points.
