Fort Wayne TinCaps News Release

GRAND CHUTE, Wisc. -- The TinCaps opened their nine-game road trip with a 4-1 win over the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers (Milwaukee Brewers affiliate) on Monday night at Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium.

Fort Wayne (13-17) took a quick 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning. After a one-out single by left fielder Grant Little, shortstop Justin Lopez ripped a single to center field that was misplayed by Wisconsin's Korry Howell, allowing Little to score and Lopez to reach third base. The next batter, right fielder Dwanya Williams-Sutton, plated Lopez with a sacrifce fly to center.

The 'Caps added to their lead in the third. Center fielder Jawuan Harris doubled to left field and came in on a single up the middle by second baseman Xavier Edwards.

Though the Rattlers (12-17) got on the board with a run in their half of the third, that was all they'd get. Left-handed starter Ramon Perez threw 79 pitches across 4 1/3 innings. He struck out four and scattered three hits and two walks.

Meanwhile, the TinCaps built their lead back to three in the fifth. Little drove in first basmean Lee Solomon with an RBI groundout.

Following Perez, lefties Dan Dallas (2 2/3 innings) and Cody Tyler (2 innings) teamed for scoreless relief.

Harris had a game-high two hits.
