MONDAY NIGHT: The TinCaps began their 9-game road trip with a 4-1 win over the Timber Rattlers. The 'Caps grabbed a 2-0 lead in the top of the first with a pair of unearned runs & didn't look back. Starter Ramon Perez battled through 4.1 innings of 1-run ball while Dan Dallas (2.2 IP) & Cody Tyler (2.0 IP) provided scoreless relief.

X FACTOR: Infielder Xavier Edwards leads the Midwest League in Batting Average (.359), ranks 4th in OBP (.425) & tied for 4th in Stolen Bases (9). Edwards has the lowest Swing & Miss % (3%) & 6th lowest K% (9%). His 1.10 BB/K ratio is 8th highest in the league.

MWL PLAYER OF THE WEEK: On Monday the Midwest League announced that infielder Tucupita Marcano was the MWL Player of the Week for April 29-May 5.In 6 games last week, Marcano slashed .538/.586/.654 as he went 14-for-26 with two walks, a hit by pitch, a double, a triple, 3 RBIs, and a stolen base. Marcano is currently on a 13-game on-base streak and a 7-game hitting streak. His .308 Average on the season ranks 8th in the MWL. His 14% K% is 10th lowest, while his 4% Swing & Miss rate is 4th lowest.

RUIZ RIPPING IT: Outfielder Agustin Ruiz ranks 9th in the MWL in AVG (.306). He's also tied for 4th in RBIs (20) & tied for 9th in Doubles (8). Ruiz has a 28% Line Drive % on Batted Balls-tied for 3rd highest.

CLEANING UP: Infielder Justin Lopez is batting cleanup for the first time this season. Lopez hit cleanup 5 times for the 'Caps in 2018 and thrived in the small sample, going 7-for-16 with 3 walks (.438 / .500) with a home run & 5 RBIs.

LITTLE STREAK: After an 0-for-22 drought, outfielder Grant Little has hit safely in 3 consecutive games, going 4-for-10 with 3 walks & an RBI.

HUNTING HITS: Blake Hunt has the 15th lowest K% in the MWL (15%), but also the 11th lowest BABIP (.222).

TURNAROUND: Catcher Juan Fernandez began the season 0-for-18 at the plate, but is 13-for-27 (.481) since, including a trifecta of 3-hit games, like his last time in the lineup on Saturday against Quad Cities.

LAUNCHING: On 50% of the balls he's put in play, infielder Luis Almanzar has hit a fly ball-11th highest Fly Ball % in the MWL. Almanzar is the team leader in home runs with 3. In 63 games here last year, Almanzar had a 46% FB% and hit 2 homers.

WALK & RUN: Outfielder Jawuan Harris has walked in 19% of his plate appearances this season. That's the 4th highest BB% in the MWL (and a jump from 14% for him last year as a rookie). Harris is also tied for 8th in the MWL in Runs (18).

MLB VISITOR: A.J. Ellis, a big league catcher from 2008-18 with the Dodgers, Phillies, Marlins, and Padres, is spending this series with the TinCaps. Ellis spent last season with San Diego and in February joined the baseball operations staff as a Special Assistant.

BACK IN THE FORT: The Parkview Sports Medicine High School Baseball Series is back in action. Tuesday marks the third of 5 double-header dates featuring 20 different local schools. It's Wayne Trace vs. Antwerp in a battle of Ohio schools at 4:30 followed by Blackhawk Christian vs. Prairie Heights at 7. The Series concludes this week with doubleheaders Wednesday & Thursday.

POWER OUTAGE: The TinCaps haven't homered in 10 consecutive games. Fort Wayne's last long ball came from Tucupita Marcano on April 25 @ South Bend. The 'Caps have 10 HR on the season, which ranks tied for the 3rd fewest in the MWL.
