Solar Bears Still Searching for First Win against Everblades After 4-3 Loss

Orlando Solar Bears News Release
ORLANDO, Fla. - The Orlando Solar Bears (10-12-2-3), proud affiliate of the NHL's Toronto Maple Leafs and AHL's Toronto Marlies, fell to the Florida Everblades (22-9-0-0) in the season's fourth Wawa Sunshine Cup Series game by a 4-3 score in front of 7,420 on Sunday evening at the Amway Center.
Orlando jumped out to an early lead in the first period while on the penalty kill, as Johnny McInnis received a pass from T.J. Foster and wired a shot past Anthony Peters for a shorthanded goal at 3:37.
Later on in the frame Lindsay Sparks buried a rebound past Peters at 14:43.
The Everblades got on the board when Matt Willows streaked into the Orlando zone and wristed a low shot behind Rob Madore at 16:22.
Willows' tally sparked a four-goal run for Florida that carried over into the second period, as Logan Roe, Matt Marquardt and Corey Cowick all scored for the Everblades in the middle frame to give the visitors a 4-2 lead.
It appeared the Solar Bears would head into the intermission trailing by two, but Sparks broke in on Peters with seconds to spare and tucked the puck past the goalie to get the home team back to within one at 19:59.
Orlando's best chance to tie the score came roughly three minutes into the third period when Mark Louis slid a shot along the ice from the left point. Although the goal horn sounded and the Solar Bears celebrated on the ice, the enthusiasm was short-lived as the goal was waved off.
Orlando continued to press late in the game, pulling Madore for an extra attacker, but was unable to find the equalizer as time expired.
Madore took the loss with 28 saves on 32 shots against; Peters earned the victory with 26 stops on 29 shots against.
