Last Night

Zach Miskovic broke a third period tie and Peter Schneider scored twice as the Fuel beat the host Mallards 4-1. Matt Carey provided the Mallards' goal while Brody Hoffman stopped 38 Fuel shots.

First

Despite last night's defeat, the Mallards remain three points ahead of the Cincinnati Cyclones in the race for first place in the ECHL's Midwest Division. The second place Cyclones have three games in hand on the Mallards.

Rematch

The Mallards today bid to earn a split of their home-and-home series with the Fuel.

Back-to-Back

The Mallards have now suffered back-to-back regulation losses for the first time this season. A 4-2 defeat at Missouri last Sunday preceded last night's setback.

Undermanned

Due to injuries, call-ups and a suspension, the Mallards have dressed fewer than the allowed 16 skaters in each of their last four games.

Home Sweet Home?

While the Mallards (11-3-1) remain tied for the league lead in home wins, they have now lost two of their last three home tilts.

Sunday Fun Day?

The Mallards fell last Sunday after winning their first five Sunday games of the season.

Between the Pipes

Hoffman made 38 saves last night and stopped 77 of the 83 shots he faced in his last two games. Steve Michalek is tied for seventh in the ECHL in save percentage (.924).

Iron Mike

By picking up an assist last night, Mike Monfredo reached one hundred career points in his one hundredth ECHL game. Monfredo is tied for second among ECHL defensemen in assists (17), is tied for third among defensemen in points (20) and is tied for tenth overall in assists.

Impact Player

After scoring last night Carey has now piled up seven points (three goals and four assists) in seven games since joining the Mallards earlier this month.

Warning Signs

Rookie Sam Warning has scored four goals in his last six games and scored seven times in his last 13 games after going without a goal in his first 11 games.

Rook

Matt Neal leads the Mallards in goals (10) and plus/minus rating (+8). Neal is tied for fourth among ECHL rookies in goals and ranks seventh among rookies in points (22).

Special Teams

The Mallards went 1-for-2 on the power play last night while the Fuel went 1-for-3. The Mallards have scored on the power play in back-to-back games. They allowed a goal on their second penalty kill last night after surviving 35 of their opponents' prior 36 advantages. The Mallards rank fourth in the ECHL in penalty killing (86.5 percent) and eighth on the power play (19.6 percent).

Head to Head

The Mallards have gone 2-3-0 against the Fuel this season. The Fuel last night posted the first road win of the season series. The two clubs will meet a total of ten times.

Milestones

In addition to reaching 100 career points in his one hundredth ECHL game last night, Monfredo also played his two hundred thirty-second game with the Mallards. He is closing in on eleventh place in team history in games played, a position currently occupied by Kerry Toporowski (236)...Olivier Archambault last night played his one hundredth career game.

Guillaume Gelinas was recalled by Iowa (AHL) yesterday... Kyle Follmer (upper body) returned to the line-up last night after missing one game...Tanner Eberle (upper body) has missed the Mallards' last three games... Raphael Bussieres (lower body) and Kevin Gibson (upper body) have missed the Mallards' last six games... Kevin Henderson (upper body) has missed the Mallards' last 11 games.
