
'Blades Add Goaltender Keegan Asmundson; Werek Loaned to AHL Charlotte

ESTERO, FL - Florida Everblades President & General Manager Craig Brush along with Head Coach Greg Poss announced Sunday that the team has agreed to terms with goaltender Keegan Asmundson (pictured left). In addition, forward Ethan Werek (pictured right) has been loaned to the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League.
Asmundson, 25, joins the Everblades after making seven appearances this season with the Evansville IceMen (ECHL). The 6-5, 222-pound netminder recorded a 2-1-0 record with a 1.67 goals-against-average and a 0.925 save percentage in three games played with the South Carolina Stingrays (ECHL) last spring. In addition, the Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota native posted a 13-8-4 record, a 1.96 goals-against-average as well as a 0.930 save percentage during his senior campaign at Canisius College last season.
Werek, 24, heads to Charlotte after totaling a balanced 26 points (12g, 14a) and a plus-17 rating in 25 appearances with the Everblades this season. The 6-2, 200-pound center has registered 76 points in 235 regular season games in the AHL in stints with the Portland Pirates (2011-2014) and Providence Bruins (2014-15). The Markham, Ontario native accrued 180 points during his three seasons played with the Kingston Frontenacs of the OHL (2008-2011). Werek was selected by the New York Rangers in the second-round of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft,
The Florida Everblades return to the ice tonight (Dec. 27) when they head to the Amway Center to take on the Orlando Solar Bears in the fourth game of the Wawa Sunshine Cup Series.
