December 27, 2015 - ECHL (ECHL)
Atlanta Gladiators News Release
Atlanta started the scoring for the second straight game against Greenville when Patrick D'Amico notched his seventh point in as many games 1:54 into the contest. The former Regina Pat saw the puck deflect off his skate into the goal past Swamp Rabbit netminder Alan York off a shot from Tyler Murovich. The rookie forward now has eight points in 11 games with Atlanta after scoring just four points for the Colorado Eagles in 17 games to start the year.
Greenville evened up the score with a powerplay goal when Ryan Rashid re-directed a point shot from former Gladiator Rob Kwiet. Michael St. Croix started the play by getting the puck to the Kwiet from the corner to collect the secondary assist on Rashid's seventh tally of the season.
The Swamp Rabbits took their first lead of the game with another powerplay marker. Scott Fleming collected a pass from behind the goal in the low slot from Jordan Knackstedt and potted the puck into the back of the goal. Greenville Captain Britton Cameron also received credit for a helper on the second Swamp Rabbit goal.
Derek Nesbitt put home a rebound chance for his team-leading 14th goal of the season to tie the game with just over seven minutes remaining in regulation. Matt Register took the shot from the point that was stopped by York who left the puck sitting in the crease where Nesbitt tapped it in. Brock Higgs collected the secondary assist on the late, game-tying goal.
The game would shift to overtime for the second straight night between the two clubs. Register lasered a shot past York from the point to give Atlanta the win and the extra point with an OT powerplay goal. Nesbitt registered his second point of the evening with the primary assist on Register's third of the year. Garry Nunn notched the other helper on Register's OT winner.
With the two points in the victory Atlanta increases their season point total to 36 on the season and their record to 17-10-2-0. In the OT loss, Greenville managed one point to improve their season total to 32 points.
