Simon Recalled to Columbus

Syracuse, NY (January 30, 2006) - The Syracuse Crunch announced today that center Ben Simon has been recalled by Columbus. The Blue Jackets also announced that center Dan Fritsche has been reassigned to Syracuse.

Simon, 27, has appeared in 40 games with Syracuse this season, recording 11 goals, 11 assists and 49 penalty minutes. He appeared in five games earlier this season without recording a point. In 254 career AHL games with Chicago, Milwaukee and Syracuse, Simon has tallied 49 goals, 64 assists and 247 penalty minutes. A native of Shaker Heights, Ohio, Simon was signed as a free agent by Columbus on August 11, 2005.

Fritshe, 20, has appeared in 45 games with the Blue Jackets this season, recording three goals, 5 assists and 18 penalty minutes. He appeared in two games earlier in the season with Syracuse, tallying one assist and two penalty minutes. A native of Parma, Ohio, Fritsche was selected by Columbus in the second round, 46th overall, in the 2003 Entry Draft.

The Crunch travel to Cleveland on Friday, February 3 for a 7 p.m. game.
