Cleveland Barons News Release

Flashback

1/25/2006 Omaha 4, Cleveland 2 - Omaha scored two power play goals to defeat the Barons 4-2 Wednesday night. The game was delayed for almost an hour due to questionable ice conditions, then led to a sluggish and slow affair. Josh Prudden tallied his 9th of the year to give the Barons a 1-0 lead, but Omaha responded quickly with a power play goal by rookie forward Eric Nystrom. A goal from Carsen Germyn gave the Knights the 2-1 lead to end the first period. Josh Hennessy found the net just past the midpoint of the second to tie the game at 2-2. Omaha answered with back-to-back tallies from Justin Taylor and Lynn Loyns less than 30-seconds apart for a 4-2 lead after forty minutes. The Barons out-shot Omaha 8-6 in the third period, but could not manage a comeback as neither team scored in the final frame.

1/27/2006 Milwaukee 5, Cleveland 4 - The Milwaukee Admirals outlasted the Barons in the first of back-to-back meetings in Cleveland. Milwaukee opened scoring with a power play tally from rookie defenseman Shea Weber. The Barons answered at even strength with a rebound goal from rookie forward Tom Cavanagh, who scored his sixth of the year. Chris Durno re-established the lead for Milwaukee and the first period ended with Milwaukee ahead, 2-1. The teams combined for five goals in the second stanza, resulting in a 4-4 tie through forty minutes. Milwaukee took advantage of 14 minutes in penalties issued to Lukas Kaspar with back-to-back power play goals from Darren Haydar and Durno. The Barons took over as Steve Bernier potted his 19th of the year with a five on three power play and Josh Hennessy scored twice, including his first goal on the power play. The Barons played strong in the third period, but the Admirals scored a late goal to earn the 5-4 win.

1/26/2006 Milwaukee 4, Cleveland 2 - Ryane Clowe's two-goal performance wasn't enough for the Barons, who were defeated 4-2 by the Milwaukee Admirals on Saturday night. The Admirals scored the game's opening tally as part of a 2-0 lead after twenty minutes of action. The opening period featured feisty physical play and a combined 24-penalty minutes. Scottie Upshall tallied his 11th goal of the year on a breakaway for the 1-0 advantage. Rich Perverly scored his fifth of the season to bring the Milwaukee lead to 2-0. Clowe scored twice in the second period trimming the Milwaukee lead to 3-2 after forty minutes of play. The Admirals struck first, extending their lead to 3-0 with a goal mouth scramble goal from Upshall. The Barons answered late in the period with Clowe scoring his seventh and eighth of the season. The Barons comeback bid fell short as Milwaukee scored the only third period goal en route to a 4-2 win and a sweep of the weekend's games.
