
Rampage's Ulmer added to 2006 All-Star Game

SAN ANTONIO (Jan. 30, 2006) - The American Hockey League announced that San Antonio Rampage center Layne Ulmer has been added to the Team Canada roster for the 2006 Rbk Hockey All-Star Classic, to be played this Tuesday and Wednesday, Jan. 31 and Feb. 1 at the MTS Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
San Antonio defenseman Matt Jones, who was named to the PlanetUSA roster earlier this month, will be unable to participate in the event due to injury.
The 25-year-old Ulmer will be making his first making his first AHL All-Star game appearance. The fifth-year pro from North Battleford, Saskatchewan, co-leads the Rampage in scoring with 27 points (12 goals, 15 assists) in 43 games for San Antonio this year.
The 2006 Rbk Hockey AHL All-Star Classic will take place at the MTS Centre in Winnipeg, home of the AHL's Manitoba Moose, and will feature the top young talent in the American Hockey League. The event gets underway on Tues., Jan. 31, with the 2006 CCM AHL All-Star Skills Competition at 7:00 p.m. (CT). The annual All-Star Game follows at 7:00 p.m. (CT) on Wed., Feb. 1.
The 2006 Rbk Hockey AHL All-Star Classic will be televised on a series of regional cable networks in the United States, including the NHL Center Ice package and on Rogers Sportsnet in Canada. It will also be offered at no charge on B2 Networks' broadband video webcast at theahl.com. The action can also be heard on XM Satellite Radio and on the internet at theahl.com.
Of the 364 players to take part in the AHL All-Star Classic since 1995, more than 93 percent have competed in the National Hockey League, including Patrice Bergeron, Pavol Demitra, Rick DiPietro, Patrik Elias, Miikka Kiprusoff, Kari Lehtonen, Ryan Miller, Martin St. Louis, Jason Spezza, Eric Staal and Steve Sullivan.
