
Lock Monsters Gobble Up Three of Four Games

Rewind: Wednesday, Lowell 3 vs. Albany 2 Mike Zigomanis scored twice, and his second of the night came with just 1:44 remaining in regulation and snapped a 2-2 tie, lifting Lowell to the win. Craig Kowalski made 31 saves - including 25 over the final two periods - to pick up the win in net. David Gove had a pair of assists in winning effort.
Friday, Lowell 8 vs. Hartford 2 The Lock Monsters offense exploded, scoring three times in both the first and second periods to chase Wolf Pack starting G Robert Gherson. Lowell tied a franchise record for goals in a game at the Tsongas Arena. Niklas Nordgren and Keith Aucoin both scored twice, and both Paul Healey and Johnny Boychuk registered three assists. Vitaly Kolesnik stopped 37 shots for the win.
Saturday, Hartford 4 vs. Lowell 2 The Wolf Pack earned revenge on the Monsters the next night in Hartford, snapping the Monsters win streak at three games with a 4-2 triumph. Steve Saviano scored twice for Lowell and Paul Healey assisted on both goals. The Monsters fell to 4-2-0-0 against the Wolf Pack.
Sunday, Lowell 4 vs. Toronto 2 The Lock Monsters spotted the visiting Marlies a 2-0 lead before storming back to take the win in front of 6,262 fans at Tsongas Arena on Sunday. Steve Saviano scored twice for the second straight game, while John Morlang's tally late in the second period tied the game. David Gove added an empty netter to seal the deal. Craig Kowalski stopped 32 shots for the win.
Monsters Memos - Saturday's game was the first multi-point game for Steve Saviano in his AHL career, when he put up two goals. He turned in a repeat multi-point performance with 2g-1a on Sunday. - The Lock Monsters eight goals on Friday tied a franchise record for goals scored at home. - C David Gove scored his third empty net goal of the season on Sunday. He is the only Lock Monsters player to tally an empty netter on the season. - Paul Healey had five assists between Friday and Saturday night. - Mike Zigomanis, Niklas Nordgren and Jesse Boulerice were all recalled by Carolina this week. Boulerice played just one game on a conditioning assignment to Lowell. Zigomanis had a three-game goal scoring streak snapped with the recall, and Nordgren had five points (3g-2a) in three games with a team-leading +5 rating. - D Jeff Finger had a four-game assist streak snapped Friday night. - Lowell is 5-2-3 in their last 10 games and won seven games in January (7-4-3) after winning just three times all of December (3-9-0-2). - C Brad Richardson, who is on recall to Colorado, scored his first NHL goal on Saturday against Alex Auld of the Vancouver Canucks. - C Keith Aucoin made his NHL debut last Monday night, with an assist in a 7-3 win over the Montreal Canadiens.

Coming Up: The 2006 RBK Hockey AHL All-Star Classic is this week, with the skills competition taking place on Tuesday and the game on Wednesday. Both events start at 8:00 p.m. (ET). CCM/Vector AHL Player of the Week Nomination LW Steve Saviano Saviano had back-to-back multiple goal games for the Lock Monsters last weekend, registering five points in three games. He scored the team's only goals on Saturday night in Hartford to overcome a 2-0 deficit, and sparked a rally from two goals down on Sunday with his first of the night. His second of the game against Toronto on Sunday proved to be the game winner.
