CHARLOTTE, NC - The Charlotte Checkers scrapped to go 1-2-0 last week using a roster that had been depleted by injury and call ups. The Checkers rebounded from a 1-3 loss to Columbia on Friday with an overtime win against the Toledo Storm on Saturday in front of an electric crowd of 9,844 fans at St. Lawrence Homes Home Ice at Charlotte Bobcats Arena. The Checkers and Storm squared off again on Sunday with the Storm skating to a 5-0 win.

Friday, January 20, 2006 @ Columbia, L, 1-3 At the expense of the Charlotte Checkers, the Columbia Inferno snapped its fifteen-game winless streak (0-13-2) with a 3-1 victory Friday night at home at the Carolina Coliseum. The Inferno built a two-goal lead after two periods on goals by Dallas Flaman and Travis Lisabeth, and rode of the fine play of National Hockey League goalie Jani Herme who made 34 saves. Herme was assigned on Friday to the Inferno from the NHL's Atlanta Thrashers.

The Checkers lone goal was scored by Peter Worrell. Derek Campbell also connected for Columbia. The loss by the Checkers snapped their four-game unbeaten streak at 3-0-1. Charlotte goalie Chris Holt took the loss with 35 saves.

Saturday, January 28, 2006 vs. Toledo, W-OT, 2-1 The Charlotte Checkers defeated the Toledo Storm 2-1 in overtime in front of 9,844 fans Saturday night at St. Lawrence Homes Home Ice at Charlotte Bobcats Arena. Dusty Jamieson scored the game winner on a one timer from Mike Bayrack and Kenton Smith at the 2:43 mark of the extra frame.

Checkers goalie Jeff Glass earned First Star honors after making 31 saves on 32 shots. Glass picked up his 11th win of the season.

Sunday, January 29, 2006 vs. Toledo, L, 0-5 The Toledo Storm outshot the Charlotte Checkers 45-17 en route to a 5-0 win Sunday in front of 4,893 fans at St. Lawrence Homes Home Ice at Charlotte Bobcats Arena. Jeff Attard scored the game winner at the 6:21 mark of the second period and followed that with another goal two minutes later.
