ST. LOUIS - St. Louis Blues Senior Vice President & General Manager Larry Pleau announced today that the team has acquired forwards Jesse Boulerice, Magnus Kahnberg and Mike Zigomanis along with a first round draft choice in 2006, a fourth round draft choice in 2006 (originally from Toronto - which could turn into a third round) and another fourth round draft choice in 2007 (originally from Chicago) from Carolina in exchange for forwards Doug Weight and Erkki Rajamaki.
Kahnberg, 25, has skated in 37 games this season with Vastra Frolunda of the Swedish Elite League, tallying 25 points (14 goals, 11 assists) and 22 penalty minutes. The 6-2, 190-pound forward has spent the last seven seasons in the Swedish League, skating in 287 games, amassing 170 points (98 goals, 72 assists) along with 116 penalty minutes. The Kallered, Sweden native was originally Carolina's seventh round choice, 212th overall in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft.
Zigomanis, 25, has split this season with Carolina and Lowell of the American Hockey League. The 6-0, 195-pound forward has played in 21 games with the Hurricanes, posting one goal and four penalty minutes. The North York, Ontario native was drafted by Buffalo as their second round choice, 64th overall in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft and by Carolina as their second round choice, 46th overall in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.
Boulerice, 27, has appeared in 26 games with Carolina this season, registering 51 penalty minutes. The 6-2, 215-pound forward has appeared in a total of 153 NHL games, recording 10 points (eight goals, two assists) along with 291 penalty minutes. The Plattsburgh, New York native was originally drafted by Philadelphia as their fifth round selection, 133rd overall in the 1996 NHL Entry Draft.
