Danis, Locke in All-Star Classic

Goaltender Yann Danis and Centre Corey Locke will represent the Hamilton Bulldogs in the 2006 RBK AHL All-Star Classic, which will take place at the MTS Centre in Winnipeg, home of the AHL's Manitoba Moose. Danis, 24, has appeared in 25 games for Hamilton this season, earning a record of 11-12-1, with a 2.73 goals-against average, and a 0.910 save percentage. Locke, 21, leads Hamilton in scoring this season with 31 points (12 goals, 19 assists) in 48 games. This is the first AHL All-Star selection for both Danis and Locke. The event gets underway on Tuesday, January 31, with the 2006 CCM AHL All-Star Skills Competition at 7:00 p.m. (CT). The annual All-Star Game follows at 7:00 p.m. (CT) on Wednesday, February 1, and will be televised live in North America.

The Hamilton Bulldogs (18-29-0-2) will play two road games in two nights this weekend against two Atlantic Division opponents. Hamilton will begin the week on Friday, February 3 by facing the Portland Pirates (28-12-4-3) at the Cumberland County Civic Center (7:05 p.m.). The Bulldogs will then take on the Manchester Monarchs (27-13-3-2) on Saturday, February 4 at the Verizon Wireless Arena (7:35 p.m.).

FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 3 - HAMILTON BULLDOGS @ PORTLAND PIRATES - 7:05 P.M. - CUMBERLAND COUNTY CIVIC CENTER * This will be the first of two meetings between Hamilton and Portland this season, with the other meeting coming on Saturday, February 11 at Copps Coliseum. * The Pirates sit in first place in the Atlantic Division with 63 points. * Portland C Ryan Shannon sits second in scoring among all AHL rookies with 47 points (14 goals, 33 assists) in 38 games this season. * The Pirates own the AHL's 11th best power play, which is currently operating at 17.8% (52 goals on 292 opportunities).

SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 4 - HAMILTON BULLDOGS @ MANCHESTER MONARCHS - 7:35 P.M. - VERIZON WIRELESS ARENA * The 'Dogs take on the Monarchs for the first time this season, with the only other meeting coming on April 1, when the Monarchs visit Copps Coliseum. * Manchester currently sits in second place in the Atlantic Division with 59 points. * The Monarchs own the AHL's eighth best home record, posting a record of 13-5-1-2. * Manchester RW Brad Smyth is tied for ninth in AHL scoring with 49 points (21 goals, 28 assists) in 46 games this season.

Saturday, January 28 * Canadiens C Chris Higgins and C Tomas Plekanec each recorded one assist as Montreal defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs 4-3 in overtime at the Air Canada Centre. LW Chad Kilger recorded an assist for Toronto. * Rangers RW Jason Ward scored and added an assist in New York's 7-1 victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins. * Mighty Ducks D Francois Beauchemin earned an assist as Anaheim defeated the Los Angeles Kings by a score of 6-2.

Sunday, January 29 * Oilers LW Raffi Torres scored a goal in Edmonton's 4-3 shootout victory over the Phoenix Coyotes. C Jarret Stoll, RW Georges Laraque, C Shawn Horcoff, and RW Fernando Pisani each earned an assist for the Oilers, while C Boyd Devereaux scored for Phoenix.
