Blues recall two forwards from Rivermen

Peoria, IL (January 30, 2006) - St. Louis Blues Senior Vice-president and General Manager Larry Pleau announced today that the club has recalled forwards Jay McClement (muh-KLEHM-ehnt) and Trent Whitfield (WHIHT-feeld) from the Blues' American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Peoria Rivermen.

McClement, 22, has appeared in 34 games for the Blues this season, collecting six points (two goals, four assists) along with 10 penalty minutes. The 6-1, 199-pound native of Kingston, Ontario, has played in 11 AHL games with the Rivermen so far this season and registered nine points (four goals, five assists) and four penalty minutes.

Whitfield, 28, is in his third stint with the Blues this season and has skated in three games for St. Louis. A product of Estevan, Saskatchewan, the 5-11, 204-pound centerman now ranks third on the Rivermen in points with 39 on 13 goals and 26 assists. He has also accrued 12 minutes in penalties in his 34 outings for Peoria.

The Rivermen are a proud new member of the AHL. Founded in 1936, the AHL now serves as the primary development league for all 30 National Hockey League teams and is celebrating its 70th anniversary season in 2005-06.
