Rosa, Clarke Named To 2004 Pepsi AHL All-Star Classic

MANCHESTER, NH - Right wing Pavel Rosa and left wing Noah Clarke will represent the Manchester Monarchs, the AHL affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, at the 2004 Pepsi AHL All-Star Classic, to be held February 8-9 at Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Both were named to the PlanetUSA All-Star team on Thursday. Defenseman Bryan Muir and center Steve Kelly will also represent the Monarchs at the All-Star Classic. Both were named to the Canadian All-Star team on Wednesday. Rosa, 26, is one of six starters named to the PlanetUSA squad. The 5-foot-11, 188-pound native of Most, Czech Republic, leads the AHL in scoring with 43 points (17-26=43) in 38 games. His 26 assists are second in the league. Only Kelly (27 assists) has more. Rosa also is second in the league with 159 shots. His plus-14 plus/minus rating is fourth in the league. Originally selected by the Kings in the second-round (50th overall) in the 1995 NHL Entry Draft, Rosa has appeared in 100 career AHL regular season games with the Monarchs and the Fredericton Canadiens, recording 106 points (45-61=106) and 30 penalty minutes.

Clarke, 24, is third in the league among rookies with 25 points (10-15=25) in 34 games. The 5-foot-10, 175-pound native of LaVerne, California, is fourth in goals with 10, and fourth in assists with 15, among first-year players. His plus-12 rating is second among rookies, as are his four power play goals. Originally selected by the Kings in the ninth-round (250th overall) in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft, Clarke has appeared in 36 career AHL regular season games with the Monarchs, recording 27 points (11-16=27) and 16 penalty minutes.

Van Andel Arena is the home of the Grand Rapids Griffins, the host team for the 2004 Pepsi AHL All-Star Classic. All-Star events get underway on Sunday, February 8 with the All-Star Skills Competition at 7:00 p.m. ET. The annual All-Star Game follows at 7:00 p.m. ET on Monday, February 9. The All-Star Game will be televised live in the United States and Canada.

The Monarchs return to action on Friday, January 9 when they travel to Portland to meet the Pirates at 7:05 p.m. After Friday's trip, the Monarchs return to the Verizon Wireless Arena for a pair of weekend games against the Lowell Lock Monsters and the Hartford Wolf Pack. The Monarchs host the Lock Monsters at 7:35 p.m. on Saturday, January 10 and the Wolf Pack at 4:05 p.m. on Sunday, January 11. The first 5,000 fans attending Sunday's game will receive a free Ryan Flinn Bobblehead Doll, courtesy of Pepsi.
