Albany River Rats News Release

Albany N.Y. – The Albany River Rats announced today that left wing Rob Skrlac has been re-called by the Stanley Cup Champion New Jersey Devils.

Skrlac, 27, joins New Jersey for the second time this season after making his National Hockey League debut on December 13th at Philadelphia. The 6-5, 245-pound winger then scored his first NHL goal in a road contest against the Atlanta Thrashers on December 18th.

A native of Port McNeil, British Columbia, Skrlac went scoreless with 56 penalty minutes in 11 games for the Albany River Rats during the 2003-04 campaign. He earned his 1,000th American Hockey League penalty minute back on November 19th at Hershey and currently stands only 177 minutes behind Assistant coach Geordie Kinnear for the franchise record.

The River Rats return to action Friday night in a road match-up against the Binghamton Senators at 7:05pm from the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena. Albany will then take on the Hershey Bears on Saturday night in a 7:00pm face-off from the GIANT Center.
