BRIDGEPORT, CT – The American Hockey League's Bridgeport Sound Tigers, the top affiliate of the National Hockey League's New York Islanders, have announced Right Wing / Center Jeff Hamilton has been named to the starting lineup for the PlanetUSA AHL All-Star Team. Hamilton will join teammates Wade Dubielewicz and Brandon Smith, who were named to the Canadian AHL All-Star Team yesterday, as well as Head Coach Greg Cronin and Assistant Coach Dave Baseggio, who will coach PlanetUSA by virtue of the Sound Tigers having the League's highest winning percentage, at the 2004 Pepsi AHL All-Star Classic, which will be played in Grand Rapids, Michigan next month.

Hamilton leads the League's scorers with 25 goals, 13 power-play goals, nine game-winning goals and 161 shots on goal. The Englewood, Ohio native is tied for second in the AHL with 42 points. Hamilton also leads the Sound Tigers in all of the above categories and with a +14 and is second on the team with 17 assists. He was the League's Sher-Wood Player of the Week for the week ending November 30th and has had a pair of five-game goal streaks and a seven-game point streak this season. Hamilton appeared in his first-ever NHL game with the Islanders on December 2nd.

Hamilton signed as free agent with the Islanders in August of 2002 after playing one season with Karpat in Finland. He played the previous five seasons, 1996-2001, at Yale University, missing most of the 1999-2000 campaign with an abdominal injury. Hamilton completed his collegiate career as Yale's All-Time leading scorer with 80 goals, 94 assists and 174 points in 127 games and was a three-time All-Ivy League selection and a first Team East All-American.

The 2004 Pepsi AHL All-Star Classic will take place on February 8th and 9th at the Van Andel Arena, which is the home of the Grand Rapids Griffins.

The Sound Tigers will play the first two of six straight road games and begin a stretch in which they will play eight of the next ten games on the road when they visit the Norfolk Admirals this Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and this Sunday at 4 p.m. Both of this weekend's games will be web cast live at www.soundtigers.com. Saturday's game will also be broadcast live on 600 WICC-AM.
