WORCESTER, MA â St. Louis Blues Senior Vice President/General Manager and Worcester IceCats General Manager of Hockey Operations Larry Pleau announced today that the Worcester IceCats have recalled defenseman Trevor Byrne and forward Mike Hoffman from IceCats ECHL affiliate, the Peoria (IL) Rivermen.
Drafted by the St. Louis Blues in the 5th round, 143rd overall in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft, Byrne skated in four games during his second stint with the Rivermen. The Weymouth, Massachusetts native registered no points and no penalty minutes in six overall games with Peoria.
Byrne has appeared in 23 games for the IceCats this season, recording two goals, two assists and 10 penalty minutes: 23(2/2/10)10. He notched his first professional goal on October 24th against Springfield.
Hoffman, also a native of Weymouth, was signed by the IceCats to a Tryout Contract on December 16th and subsequently signed to an AHL contract on December 19th. He was loaned by the IceCats to Peoria after playing in two games. While with Peoria, he participated in five games and notched his first two professional points, both assists. Prior to attending UCONN, the 23 year-old skated in 50 games for the Chicago Steel of the USHL.
The IceCats are in Texas for a game tonight and Friday night and return to Worcester's Centrum Centre for a 7:05 face-off with the Springfield Falcons on Wednesday, January 14th.
