Albany River Rats News Release


Albany lost the first two games of the East-Division Finals this weekend in Hershey, PA. Jerome Samson scored twice and goaltender Justin Peters made 44 saves on Saturday night, but Kyle Wilson scored the game-winner at 10:41 of overtime to lift the Hershey Bears to a 4-3 victory in Game One of the series. The Bears made it two-straight the following night, erasing a one-goal deficit with three unanswered power play goals in the third period to take a 6-3 decision. The clubs will travel to Albany for Games Three and Four of the East Division finals on Tuesday and Thursday nights at 7:00 p.m. at the Times Union Center.

- ANGELIDIS MATCHES FRANCHISE MARK - Assistant Captain Mike Angelidis recorded an assist in four straight games last week to match a River Rats playoff record. Sergei Vyshedkevich and John Madden are the only other players in franchise history to compile four-game playoff assists streaks, having done so in 1998. Angelidis is currently tied for first among River Rats with five points (1-4-5) this post-season.

- SAMSON STREAKING - After a quiet start to the playoffs, Albany's regular season points-leader Jerome Samson has compiled a four-game point streak, showing four goals and one assist over that stretch..

- DECIDING FRAME - All six of Albany's playoff games have been decided tied during the third period. Opponents have out-shot the River Rats 79-64 in the third period and overtime, while out-scoring Albany 11-10.

- PLAYOFF LEAGUE LEADERS - Casey Borer is tied for first place in the league with a plus-7 plus-minus rating, while Jamie McBain ranks fifth with a plus-6 rating. Justin Peters' 2.92 GAA is tied for ninth in the AHL, and his 180 saves rank second among league goaltenders. McBain is tied for first place among AHL defensemen with four goals, while his five points rank sixth among defensemen and tied for eighth among all rookies. Drayson Bowman (2-3-5) and Chris Terry (1-4-5) are also tied for eighth among rookie scorers.
