After falling in their first three meetings with Chicago this season, the Lake Erie Monsters climbed out of a one-goal deficit, went on a five-goal run and ultimately claimed a 6-3 win over the Wolves at Quicken Loans Arena on Friday. Former Chicago center Patrick Rissmiller set a Lake Erie franchise record by scoring four goals for the Monsters, while his five points on the night tied a franchise mark.
With the win, the Monsters improved to 12-9-2-2 overall and 7-3-2-1 on home ice and moved into third place in the North Division. Lake Erie has collected seven of a possible eight points in its last four games (3-0-1-0).
Chicago jumped out to a 1-0 lead at 3:28 of the opening period. Arturs Kulda took a wrist shot from the left point and Ryan Garbutt tipped it into the net for his third goal of the season. Akim Aliu also assisted.
Lake Erie evened the score at 1-1 at 7:52 of the period. Mark Olver took a shot from the right circle and Matt Ford batted the rebound out of mid air for his seventh of the season. Rissmiller also assisted.
Just 2:55 later, the Monsters took a 2-1 lead when Olver set up Rissmiller with a one-timer in the left circle. Olver's assist marked his 15th point (6G, 8A) in his past 14 games. Olver's two-assist night marks his fifth multi-point game of the campaign and he leads the Monsters with 19 points on the season. Ryan Stoa also picked up an assist on the goal.
The first period ended with Lake Erie ahead 2-1, as they outshot the Wolves 10-9 in the frame.
In the second period, Rissmiller pushed Lake Erie's lead to 3-1 with a power play goal at the 3:55 mark. On the goal, Jonas Holos picked up his second assist of the season and Ben Walter picked up his eighth.

The score was 4-1 at the end of the middle frame and the Monsters outshot the Wolves 8-7 in the period.
In the third period, Walter tipped in Cameron Gaunce's shot from the point at the 8:11 mark. Patrick Bordeleau also assisted for his fourth helper of the season. Walter's tally marked his second three-point outing of the campaign and his third multi-point game of the season.
Chicago made the score 5-2 with Paul Postma's power play goal at 10:18 of the third period. Jason Krog and former Monster Darren Haydar assisted.
The Wolves narrowed the margin to two goals when Jaime Sifers' tally at 16:46 made the score 5-3. Sifers was assisted by Krog and Kulda.
Rissmiller finalized a 6-3 short sheet when he netted an unassisted, shorthanded, empty-net goal with just 38 seconds remaining in regulation, finishing his four-goal, five-point outing. In seven games with the Monsters this season, Rissmiller has notched nine points (5G, 4A).
