Hershey Bears News Release
HERSHEY rallied from two separate one-goal deficits Friday night to post a 3-2 win over the Albany Devils at Times Union Center. The win was the 13thof the season for the Chocolate and White, after the team kicked off a stretch of five road games in six with two standings points.
After a scoreless first period, Albany's David McIntyre netted his fifth goal of the season at 5:00 of the second period to lift the Devils in front 1-0. Just 31 seconds later, Albany goaltender Jeff Frazee served up a rebound on a Maxime Lacroix shot, and Jay Beagle pounded it home for his fourth goal of the season. HERSHEY had tied the game at 1-1. Albany's Vladimir Zharkov then gave the Devils a 2-1 advantage as he tipped a Nick Palmieri shot past Dany Sabourin at 8:36 of the second. But Sabourin, who has been very tough to beat on the road of late, would give the Devils nothing else the rest of the way.
HERSHEY managed to tie the game at two before second intermission when Dmitri Kugryshev fielded a terrific cross-ice pass from Brian Willsie and scored his second pro goal. The strike at 15:39 of the second tied the game, and set the stage for Steve Pinizzotto. Pinizzotto intercepted a pass from an Albany defender at 3:05 of the third and scored an unassisted goal to put HERSHEY in front. Neither team would score the rest of the way, and Sabourin won his fifth road game of the season by a 3-2 final. Pinizzotto was named the game's number one star, as his fourth goal of the season stood up to be the game-winner.
BEARS Radio Network Three Stars of the game:
1. Steve Pinizzotto (Game winner in third period)
2. Dany Sabourin (Another road win, 22 saves)
3. Dmitri Kugryshev (Second pro goal to tie the game)
Notes: The BEARS return home Saturday to face the Binghamton Senators at Giant Center, with faceoff scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Tickets remain at the Giant Center box office for HERSHEY'S only home game of the week, and the only home game before December 18. Friday's game was the second of 10 broadcast in Washington, D.C. on WFED-AM 1500 and the Capitals Radio Network. The next game to be broadcast in Washington will be next Friday when the BEARS visit Charlotte at Time Warner Cable Arena at 7:00 p.m. "BEARS Saturday Night Rewind" is back on the air Saturday following the BEARS and Senators. Although the game will be heard on WHP 580, the one-hour call-in show following the Fairview Golf Course postgame show will be heard on 1460 The Ticket. Both the game and "Rewind" can be heard on Soft Rock 100.1 WQIC. Keith Aucoin missed the game due to injury Friday, and has been sidelined since November 7. The appearance by Sabourin was his 12th of the season. Trevor Bruess, Joel Rechlicz, Zach Miskovic and Grant McNeill (healthy) were all scratches Friday.
