OVERVIEW: The Barons continue a 5-game road trip with the first of back-to-back games against the Manitoba Moose (Vancouver Canucks). It's the Barons' only trip to Manitoba during the regular season. OKC has dropped 2 straight, matching its longest stretch of regulation defeats this season. The Barons opened the year 0-2-1-0, which remains their longest stretch of non-wins. OKC is fourth in the West Division, 3 points back of first-place San Antonio. Manitoba is fifth, 7 points behind Hamilton, in the North. The Barons are 1-2-0-0 so far on the trip.

THE RETURN OF GERBER: Since the Barons' most recent game on Tuesday, a 5-2 loss at Texas, goaltender Martin Gerber was returned on loan. He was recalled on an emergency basis Nov. 18 because of the groin injury to Nikolai Khabibulin. Gerber played 2 games for the Oilers, both wins, beating Colorado 3-2 Nov. 25 at Rexall Place and backstopping Edmonton on Monday at Ottawa, stopping 22 of 23 shots in a 4-1 road win. Gerber had a 1.50 goals-against average and a .950 save percentage in those 2 games. Gerber won his final 7 OKC starts before the recall.

OKC-EDMONTON CONNECTION: Three players have appeared for both the Barons and Oilers this season: goaltender Martin Gerber, defenseman Shawn Belle and left winger J.F. Jacques. Belle opened the season with OKC but was recalled Nov. 16 to replace Ladislav Smid, who was out with a concussion. Belle returned on Nov. 24. Jacques spent a 4-game conditioning stint with the Barons last month after having back surgery in March and remains with Edmonton. Gerber was recalled Nov. 18 and returned on Wednesday.

FALSE STARTS: The Barons have been out-scored 5-1 in the first period of their last 2 games, both losses, and were out-shot in those periods a combined 25-17. For the season, the opposition has out-scored the Barons 27-20 in the opening period and out-shot them 235-211. In the second and third periods combined, the Barons have out-scored their rivals 54-39. The Barons have trailed at the first intermission 11 times in 23 games, going 4-5-1-1 in those games. When OKC leads or is tied after 1 period, it is a combined 9-3-0-0.

MCDONALD APPROACHES CAREER HIGH: Colin McDonald had a 4-game goal streak snapped in Tuesday's 5-2 loss at Texas. McDonald's streak tied for the second-longest in the AHL this season. He has 11 goals in 23 games and is closing in on his career high of 13 for a season, set last year with 12 for Springfield and 1 for the Edmonton Oilers.

REDDOX AMONG LEADERS: Liam Reddox is part of a 4-way tie for the AHL lead in shorthanded goals with 3. He's fourth in the league in shots with 100.
