Hamilton, ON - The Hamilton Bulldogs were defeated by the Peoria Rivermen 2-1 on Friday night at Copps Coliseum. The 'Dogs fired 30 shots on Jake Allen but could only beat the goaltender once while Graham Mink broke a tie game late in the third period to give the Rivermen the win.
Following a scoreless first period, the Bulldogs opened the game's scoring at 14:11 of the second stanza with a power-play goal. Kyle Klubertanz sent the puck to Andreas Engqvist, who fired a shot that was stopped by Peoria starting goaltender Jake Allen. The rebound bounced out to Engqvist, who proceeded to backhand the puck over Allen's pad and into the net.
The Rivermen tied the game 1-1 at 18:05 of the middle frame. Phil McRae intercepted a pass from a Bulldogs defender before snapping a shot that beat Hamilton starting goaltender Curtis Sanford between the pads.
Peoria took a 2-1 lead at 16:15 of the third period while on the power play. T.J. Hensick released a shot from the side boards which was saved by Sanford. Mink collected the rebound in front of the net before sliding the puck beneath the goaltender and into the net.
The Bulldogs welcome the Chicago Wolves to Copps Coliseum on Saturday, December 4th for a 4:00 p.m. game. Saturday's game is the annual 'Toy Toss Game' where fans in attendance are encouraged to bring a stuffed toy to the game to throw onto the ice following Hamilton's first goal. All toys will be donated to local charities in the Hamilton area. All regular season Hamilton Bulldogs broadcasts on AM 820 CHAM will begin with a pre-game show 30 minutes prior to the scheduled start time.
