Albany Devils News Release

ALBANY, NY - The Albany Devils held two leads, but an early third period goal by Steve Pinizzotto lifted the Hershey Bears to a 3-2 win Friday night at the Times Union Center. David McIntyre had a hand on both Devils' goals, registering a goal and an assist as Albany goes to 9-13-0-0. Hershey, the AHL's back-to-back champions, improve to 13-9-0-1.

Pinizzotto's game winner came after a turnover just outside the Devils' defensive end. He avoided the swiping stick of an Albany defender and then roofed the puck over the stacked pads of Jeff Frazee 3:05 into the third period.

Dany Sabourin, who earned the win in goal with 22 saves, was tested early. Rob Davisonand Michael Swift were both denied on identical tries from centering passes in the slot. Then, Kory Nagy missed a wraparound chance after pick pocketing Sabourin with less than two minutes remaining.

McIntyre broke the scoreless tie thanks to a Pierre-Luc Letourneau-Lebond pass across the crease five minutes into the second period. McIntyre outstretch stick chipped in his fifth goal of the season, while Leblond and Nick Palmieri earned the assists.

It didn't take long for Jay Beagle to make it, 1-1, 31 seconds later, the Devils answered on the power play at 8:36 of the second. McIntyre earned his second point of the night by making a backhanded pass from behind the net and through the crease to Vladimir Zharkov for a one timer. The goal, which came with the man advantage, was Zharkov's team-high tying 13th point of the season.

Before the second period ended, Dimitri Kugryshev knotted things back up, cashing in on a rebound off a shot by Brian Willsie at 15:39.

Albany went 1-for-2 on the power play and killed off all four Hershey man-up tries.

Jeff Frazee made 29 stops in his first start since being injured at Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Nov. 24.

Tonight's game was the first of three in three different nights in three different locations. The team heads to Rochester for a 7:35 p.m. game on Saturday, Dec. 4 and then hosts Adirondack in Atlantic City on at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 5.
