Oklahoma chipped away at New Orleans' lead Monday but couldn't catch the Zephyrs in a 10-7 loss at SBC Bricktown Ballpark.
The loss makes the RedHawks' lead in the American Conference Southern Division one half game over Albuquerque. Albuquerque beat Round Rock 11-1 Monday.
New Orleans jumped to a 6-2 lead after a six-run third inning. Juan Melo led off the inning with a home run and Keith Osik followed with a double. Oklahoma starting pitcher Josh Rupe's throwing error on a bunt by Jason Bowers allowed Osik to score and sent Bowers to second base.
Doubles in the inning by Tyrell Godwin and Dee Brown made the score 6-3. The RedHawks rallied in the bottom of the inning on a three-run homer by Manny Alexander to make the score 6-5. It was his The teams traded runs in the third and eighth innings.
New Orleans scored two runs in the ninth to make the final score 10-7.
The RedHawks and Zephyrs meet again at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday at SBC Bricktown Ballpark. The RedHawks will break their single season attendance record at Tuesday's game, surpassing the mark set in 1998.
