Round Rock Express News Release
(Round Rock, TX) - The Albuquerque Isotopes and Round Rock Express opened play at Isotopes Park on Monday tied at one and a half games back of American Southern Division leading Oklahoma with only eight regular season games remaining.
Unfortunately for the E-Train, thirty-eight year old Albuquerque right-hander Ariel Prieto put a damper on the Express' plans for overtaking Oklahoma, as Albuquerque pounded out an 11-1 win over Round Rock.
Prieto gave up only one run on five hits through six innings, striking out six and walking only two. He battled out of two bases loaded situations, giving up only one run with the bases loaded in the second inning, and stranded the bases loaded in the sixth, while taking the wind out of the Express as he went.
After giving up five runs over two innings, Express starter Brandon Duckworth gave up only two hits and a walk, but took the loss, leaving the game trailing 5-1 into the seventh inning.
In the bottom of the seventh, reliever Taylor Buchholz gave up six runs on seven hits to Albuquerque hitters, stretching the lead to the final 11-1.
Game two of the series begins at 7pm Central Time in Albuquerque on Tuesday with lefty Jimmy Anderson starting for the Express. You can listen to the game live by clicking on the "Listen Live" link on the Round Rock Express website - www.roundrockexpress.com or tuning into 1260 AM - ESPN Austin radio.
