August 29, 2005 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1) News Release
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Pacific Coast League has announced its 2005 All-PCL Team, featuring the League's best players at every position including right-handed and left-handed starting pitchers, as well as a relief pitcher. The prestigious team is selected annually by vote of the PCL's field managers and media representatives.
The New Orleans Zephyrs have three representatives with outfielder Brandon Watson, league batting leader, Rick Short, and left-handed pitcher, Matt White. Watson is batting .351 with 31 stolen bases and White has impressed many with his 8-5 record and 3.23 ERA.
Tucson holds down the right side of the infield with Conor Jackson at first and Andy Green at second, while Round Rock anchors the left side with shortstop Danny Klassen and third baseman Mike Coolbaugh. Green leads the Minors in hits and runs scored and has 45 doubles and 13 triples to rank him second in extra-base hits at 77. Coolbaugh leads the PCL in RBI with 101 and has 27 home runs as teammate Klassen is batting .319 with 15 home runs.
Fresno's Todd Linden and Omaha's Aaron Guiel, both with 30 home runs, fill out the outfield with Salt Lake's Jeff Mathis, claiming the catcher position. Felix Hernandez of Tacoma earns the right-handed pitcher slot and Iowa's Jermaine Van Buren is the relief pitcher with 24 saves.
