Redbirds Register One Run in Loss at Indianapolis

MEMPHIS, TN - The Memphis Redbirds continued a six-game road trip against the Indianapolis Indians on Friday night with a 2-1 loss at Victory Field.

With the lone Memphis run scoring on a double play in the fourth inning, the Redbirds were unable to put much traffic on the basepaths. In total, Memphis registered two hits and drew four walks while the team struck out 12 times.

In a bullpen day, the Redbirds pitching staff dominated Indian bats. In a spot start, Andrew Suarez tossed a scoreless 4.0 innings of work, allowed three hits and struck out three batters. Both Indianapolis runs scored in the fifth inning. With the loss Memphis falls to a season worst three games under .500.

The Redbirds (41-44) return to AutoZone Park on Friday, July 14 to continue a six-game homestand at 7:05p.m. CDT against the Nashville Sounds.
