Buffalo Bisons News Release
ROCHESTER, NY- Six different players recorded a multi-hit game to propel the Buffalo Bisons to a 19-3 thrashing of the Rochester Red Wings on Friday night at Innovative Field.
The Herd got the bats rolling early on, as they would take a commanding 3-0 lead in the first inning. With bases loaded, Jordan Luplow grounded into a force out, allowing Rafael Lantigua to score. From there, Rob Brantly then singled to right field, advancing Davis Schneider home. The Bisons strong inning would be capped off with a Luis De Los Santos sacrifice fly to right field, scoring Luplow.
The strong start would not stop there for Buffalo however, as Lantigua would rocket a three-run home run to center field in the top of the second inning. Cameron Eden and Tanner Morris would also score, upping the early lead to 6-0 for the Herd.
Later in the inning, Rochester would try to cut the lead as Franmil Reyes hit a solo shot to left field, making it 6-1.
With two men on in the third inning, L.J. Talley doubled to right field, scoring Rob Brantly and furthering the Bisons lead to 7-1. Tanner Morris' single would later score De Los Santos, advancing the lead, 8-1.
Continuing the bats in the fourth inning, Talley would add to his night by homering to center field and scoring De Los Santos, upping the lead to 10-1.
In the bottom of the sixth, Reyes would add another RBI to his night, as his single to right field scored Jake Alu, cutting the Bisons lead to 10-2.
Freshly coming off of earning MILB's pitcher of the week, Wes Parsons continued his strong month of July by starting six innings, while tossing eight strikeouts and allowing only two run in the process.
Buffalo's 14th hit of the night came courtesy of Addison Barger, singling to center and scoring both Eden and Lantigua, bumping up the Herd's lead to 10 runs, 12-2.
The Bisons would not let up, as Davis Schneider's line drive single to left field sent both Morris and Lantigua home in the ninth, furthering their lead, 14-3. With bases loaded, a wild pitch by Reyes allowed Schneider to score, bringing the lead to 15-3.
In the same inning, De Los Santos would use the long ball to bolster a grand slam, scoring Barger, Luplow, and Ritchie. It was exactly one week ago to date that De Los Santos launched a grand slam in an extra innings thriller to lift Buffalo over Worcester.
Despite the score, Rochester's effort was still there. In the bottom of the seventh inning, Jacob Nottingham hit his first home run of the season to left center field, making the score 14-3.
A combined relief pitching effort by Jimmy Burnette, Trent Thornton and Paul Fry, that included three innings pitched, five strikeouts, and one earned run, would help the Bisons maintain their commanding lead.
In the end, Buffalo's strong offensive performance that consisted of 20 hits would seamlessly help them defeat the Rochester Red Wings, 19-3.
The Herd will face the Red Wings Saturday for game four of a six-game series, with Paxton Schultz set to get the nod for a scheduled 6:05 p.m. start.
