Charlotte Knights News Release

(UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) -- Outfielder Billy Hamilton showed out in front of a 7,636 crowd at Truist Field, where the Charlotte Knights dropped game four of a six-game series against the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp 11-6 on Friday, July 7.

Hamilton had a strong outing making a big leaping catch at the wall in center field in the top of the second inning, preventing a leadoff base runner for Jacksonville. In the bottom half of the inning, Hamilton led off with a solo home run taking the ball over the left field wall on the first pitch. Hamilton made another running and leaping catch to prevent runs from scoring to close the top of the ninth.

Outfielder Stephen Piscottb also had a good day at the plate, going 2-3 with two RBI helping on the offensive side for the Knights.

Hamilton, known for his speed over his power, hit his first home run since hitting homers on back-to-back days in late May 2021, where he sent two balls over the fence against the Baltimore Orioles while playing for the Chicago White Sox. Despite showing off some power, he expressed his famous speed by rounding the bases in an astounding 17.8 seconds.

On the mound, left-handed pitcher Nate Fisher was straddled with the loss giving up eight runs in 4.2 innings on eight hits and three walks while striking out two batters.

Charlotte came out of the gates hot, scoring four runs in the opening frame, with one run coming in on an RBI single from outfielder Victor Reyes and an RBI double from infielder Nate Mondou to put the team up 4-0.

Jacksonville claimed the lead in the fourth inning when a three-run triple put them ahead 8-5.

Charlotte added a run in the fifth inning on an RBI single from Piscotty.

Jacksonville closed out the game 11-6 to claim the series victory.

The Knights will continue the six-game series against the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp (Triple-A affiliate of the Miami Marlins) from Truist Field on Saturday night. The "Voice of the Knights" Matt Swierad and long-time broadcaster Mike Pacheco will have the call for all of the action on www.CharlotteKnights.com. First pitch is set for 7:04 p.m. from Uptown Charlotte.

Fans can also watch the game live on My12 WMYT starting at 7:00 p.m. with Dick Cooke joining Matt and Mike in the booth.
