
Reading reigns at home, posting 2-0-1 record this week

Reading Royals News Release
The Reading Royals extended their home unbeaten streak to a season high 12 games with wins over Bakersfield and Trenton and shootout loss to Atlantic City. The defending Kelly Cup Champion Bullies nipped the Royals Friday night, 3-2, in a shootout. Saturday, the Royals rebounded with a 3-2 regulation victory over the Bakersfield Condors. Finally on Sunday afternoon, Reading edged the Trenton Titans for the sixth time in seven tries in an overtime shootout, 3-2. The shootout win broke a three-game losing skid for the Royals in shootouts. Reading is now a league best 20-1-3 at home this season.
The Royals finish off their six-game homestand on Tuesday evening versus the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies. The Royals are 0-1-1 against the Bullies in their last two outings. Reading takes to the road for the 30th and 31st times this season. In two crucial Northern Division games, the Royals battle the Peoria Rivermen for the final two meetings this season. The Royals and Rivermen meet in back-to-back games on Friday and Saturday nights.

Friday, February 20 vs. Atlantic City Sovereign Center 7:05PM
GAME NOTES: Despite mounting a two-goal comeback, the Royals lost a 3-2 shootout decision versus the defending Kelly Cup Champions. Brad Church tallied a power play goal and Lars Pettersen knotted the score with 3:03 remaining in regulation to register a point for the home team. The Royals failed to score in the shootout, but maintained their home unbeaten streak (10 games). Reading is now 1-3-2 against Atlantic City this season.
Saturday, January 21 vs. Bakersfield Sovereign Center 7:05PM
GAME NOTES: In their first and only meeting this season, the Royals downed the Condors, 3-2. Team captain Brad Church netted two power play goals, including the game-winner with just over seven minutes remaining in regulation, to lead the home team to their 19th win at the Sovereign Center. Forward Scooter Smith added two assists, as Reading finished the year at 12-4-0 versus non-division opponents.
Sunday, February 22 vs. Trenton Sovereign Center 5:05PM
GAME NOTES: Cody Rudkowsky stopped all four Trenton shooters he faced, while Lars Pettersen and David Masse found the back of the net, as Reading prevailed over the Titans, 3-2, in a shootout. Reagan Rome and Dave Stewart tallied for Reading in regulation, as the Royals picked up their 20th home win of the season. The win moved Reading to 6-1-0 against Trenton this season.

Tuesday, February 24 vs. Atlantic City Sovereign Center 7:05PM
GAME NOTES: The Reading Royals and the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies meet for the second time in five days in the Sovereign Center in Reading. In the only meeting in Reading, Atlantic City knocked off Reading 3-2 in a shootout. This is seventh battle of the season between these two clubs.

GAME NOTES: This is the first of back-to-back meetings to finish off the five-game regular season series. Currently, the Royals and Rivermen are tied for third place in the Northern Division with 68 points.
Saturday, February 28 @ Peoria Bradley Center 7:00PM
GAME NOTES: This is the final meeting of the season between Reading and Peoria. The Royals have posted a 2-0-0 mark against the Rivermen in the Bradley Center in Peoria. Reading beat Peoria 2-1 in overtime on November 7, as Leon Hayward notched the overtime game-winner. The Royals shutout the Rivermen, 4-0, behind a 44-save shutout performance by Cody Rudkowsky on November 8.

The Royals captain led his team by example tallying three goals, all on the
power play, to pace the Royals to a 2-0-1 record this week. Church
recorded his 18th goal of the year against Atlantic City in a 3-2 shootout
loss on Friday night. The Dauphin, Manitoba native picked up two goals,
both on the power play, Saturday night in a 3-2 regulation win over
Bakersfield. Church's 13th power play goals rank first on the Royals and
third in the ECHL.

Peter Hamerlik extended his unbeaten streak to six games, posting a 1-0-1
record this week. Hamerlik stopped 35 shots in regulation and overtime and
four of five shooters in the shootout, in a 3-2 loss to Atlantic City Friday
night. Saturday, Hamerlik stopped 25 shots in a 3-2 win over Bakersfield to
record his eighth win of the season.
