BOISE, Idaho - The Idaho Steelheads concluded its only trip east this season tied with the Las Vegas Wranglers for second place in the Pacific Division. The 68 points puts the teams eight points back from the front-running San Diego goals, and six points ahead of the fourth place Alaska Aces. Though tied in points with the Wranglers, Idaho's winning percentage of .642 puts them in sole possession of second spot in its division.

Coming off two consecutive road wins, the team now returns home to play its longest homestand of the season, with eight upcoming games through the end of February and early March.

In addition, the Steelheads will Webcast this Wednesday's game against the Alaska Aces. Fans can access the link from the Steelheads website at game time (7:05 pm MST): www.idahosteelheads.com.

RECORD:

Idaho is 31-16-6, 68 points (home record 17-5-2, and road record 14-11-4). Idaho is 6-3-1 in its last 10 games; its current streak is 2-0-0. Idaho is 25-13-5 in inter-divisional play, and 6-3-1 outside its division.

OF NOTE:

TEAM.... Idaho ranks 24th in shots-for per game with 1584, averaging 29.89 per game. In shots-against, Idaho is ranked 8th, allowing 1511 and an average of 28.51. In goals-for, Idaho is ranked 14th, having scored 162 or 3.06 per game. In goals-against the team is 13th, allowing 152 or 2.87 per game.

PLAYERS.... David Bararuk (F) has scored 10 points in his last 10 games (5 goals and 5 assists).... Scott Burt (F) has 4 goals in his last two games.... Adam Copeland (F) has 3 points in his last 2 games (2 goals and 1 assist)... Jan Kopecky (F) scored 4 points (1 goal and 3 assists) in his last game played...he has led the Steelheads in scoring all season - currently he has 44 points (21 goals and 23 assists)....

TRICKY.... Scott Burt scored a hat trick in Idaho's 7-5 win in Toledo on 02/21/04. He joins three other Steelheads who have recorded three-goal games this year: Miguel Delisle (traded to Long Beach 2/11/04) is the only player to record multiple hat tricks this season with two (12/17/03 vs BAK and 12/19/03 vs BAK). Lance Galbraith also tallied a hat trick on 01/03/04 @ Fresno in the Steelheads first game at the new Save Mart Center. Idaho's captain, defenseman Jeremy Mylymok recorded a hat trick on 01/17/04 @ Fresno leading the Steelheads to a 7-2 victory.

GAME RECAPS:

2/18/04: IDAHO 1 @ CINCINNATI 2 (SO)

CINCINNATI (Ticker) -- Evan Cheverie scored in the shootout to lift the Cincinnati Cyclones over the Idaho Steelheads, 2-1, and snap a nine-game winless streak. Cheverie recorded his first shootout goal on his first attempt of the season at the end of the fifth round. Tyler Masters, who turned aside four of five shootout attempts, had 32 saves in the win. Tyler Deis opened the scoring 3:43 into the second period for Cincinnati, which improved to 3-1 in shootout games. David Bararuk scored 7:38 into the second period for Idaho, which fell to 2-0-1 in three all-time meetings with the Cyclones. Blair Allison had 29 saves for the Steelheads.

02/20/04: IDAHO 3 @ TOLEDO 1

TOLEDO, Ohio (Ticker) -- Adam Copeland and Brett Draney both had a goal and an assist to lead the Idaho Steelheads to a 3-1 victory over the Toledo Storm. Copeland provided a marker 97 seconds into the affair, scoring on a power play that started just 14 seconds after the puck was dropped. After Scott Burt netted the eventual game-winner with a goal late in the second to snap a 1-1 tie, Draney provided the final margin with an unassisted tally less than two minutes later. Blair Allison recorded 33 saves to win for just the fifth time in his 14 appearances for Idaho, which improved to 2-2-1 on its current six-game road swing. Jim Abbott registered a shorthanded goal late in the first period for Toledo, which saw its four-game unbeaten streak at home (2-0-2) end. Jimi St. John finished with 26 saves in a losing effort, dropping his third straight.

02/21/04: IDAHO 7 @ TOLEDO 5

TOLEDO, Ohio (Ticker) -- Scott Burt broke out with his first hat trick in nearly four years as the Idaho Steelheads defeated the Toledo Storm, 7-5. Burt, who had just two goals in his previous 33 games, opened the scoring with a marker 7:02 into the contest. The 27-year-old added a power-play goal late in the second to give Idaho a 5-2 edge and recorded an empty-netter in the closing seconds to finish off his first hat trick since April 2, 2000. Jan Kopecky provided a goal and three assists and Dylan Gyori scored once and helped out on a pair of goals for the Steelheads, who finished 3-for-6 on the power play. Blair Allison recorded 30 saves to help Idaho end a six-game road trip at 3-2-1. Marco Charpentier led Toledo with two goals, including a marker with 1:57 remaining in the third, capping a late three-goal surge that brought the Storm within a goal at 6-5. Jimi St. John stopped just 17 of 23 shots he faced to drop his fourth straight decision. Toledo fell to 2-6-2 in its last 10 home games.
