Petiot Returns To Manchester

MANCHESTER, NH - The Los Angeles Kings, the parent club of the Manchester Monarchs, have assigned defenseman Richard Petiot to the Monarchs, Kings President of Hockey Operations/General Manager Dave Taylor announced today. In addition, Manchester has released defenseman Chris Barr and forward Mike Kompon from their professional tryout agreements, Monarchs Director of Hockey Operations Hubie McDonough announced today.

Petiot, 23, was recalled by the Kings from Manchester yesterday and did not appear in last night's Kings-Boston game, a 6-0 Los Angeles victory. With Manchester this season, Petiot has eight points (3-5=8), 26 penalty minutes and a plus-11 rating in 30 games. The 6-foot-3, 200-pound native of Daysland, Alberta, was originally selected by the Kings in the fourth-round (116th overall) of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft. He has been recalled by the Kings on multiple occasions this season and has not appeared in a regular season game.

Barr, 23, appeared in three games with the Monarchs this season, collecting seven penalty minutes. Prior to signing his professional tryout agreement on January 5, Barr appeared in 28 games with the ECHL's Reading Royals, registering six points (1-5=6) and 40 penalty minutes. The last two seasons, the 6-foot-3, 205-pound native of Nipawin, Saskatchewan, played for the University of Saskatchewan (2003-05). In 52 games with the Huskies, Barr collected 13 points (1-12=13) and 128 penalty minutes. Barr also participated in the Monarchs 2005-06 training camp.

Kompon, 23, signed a professional tryout agreement with the Monarchs on January 7 and has recorded one point (0-1=1) and four penalty minutes in two games in Manchester. Kompon joined the Monarchs from the Royals where he had collected nine goals and 36 points (9-27=36) in 27 games. In his first professional season, the 5-foot-10, 180-pound native of Thunder Bay, Ontario, compiled 90 points (39-51=90) and 35 penalty minutes in 77 games with the United Hockey League's Quad City Mallards during the 2004-05 season. Before turning pro, Kompon played in 153 games at the University of Miami (Ohio) and registered 138 points (49-89=138) and 104 penalty minutes over four seasons (2000-04).

The Monarchs host the Lowell Lock Monsters on Friday, January 13 at the Verizon Wireless Arena. Face-off is scheduled for 7:35 p.m.
