Penguins Pick Up Franck

Wilkes-Barre - The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins have signed goaltender Andy Franck, it was announced today by Chief Executive Officer Jeff Barrett. In keeping with club policy, terms of the deal were not available.

Franck, 24, has posted a 14-6-1 record with a 2.34 goals against average and one shutout in his first season with the Wheeling Nailers. He currently ranks fifth in the ECHL in goals against average and tied for third in wins.

The 6-0, 175 pound netminder will remain with the Nailers for the time being.

A native of Lakewood, OH, Franck spent three seasons at Mercyhurst College, where he posted a career record of 43-26-5 with four shutouts and a 3.12 goals against average in 81 games with the Lakers.

The Penguins return to action this evening when they take on the Norfolk Admirals at the Scope in Norfolk Virginia. Game time is 7:15pm. The Pens travel to Hershey for a Saturday night contest against the Bears, and visit the Syracuse Crunch on Monday at 2:00pm, before returning home to host Syracuse on Wednesday at 7:05pm.
