Admirals down Barons 6-4

Milwaukee Admirals News Release
Milwaukee, WI--Adding two NHL caliber players is bound to help any AHL team improve their scoring and the Milwaukee Admirals are not different. With the reassignment of Scottie Upshall on Monday and the addition of Scott Nichol on a conditioning assignment, the Admirals scored six goals to come away with a 6-4 win over the pesky Cleveland Barons.
When Darren Haydar picked up his second goal of the night, to push the Admirals lead to 5-2 with just over 13 minutes to go in the game, it looked as if the team would cruise to an easy victory. However, the Barons kept their composure and answered with goals by Lukas Kaspar and Shane Joseph to make the game interesting.
But the Barons comeback was not to be as Kris Beech blocked a Josh Hennessy shot, gathered the puck and hit a streaking Scottie Upshall who found the empty net vacated by goalie Dimitri Patzold in favor of an extra attacker.
Nichol, selected as the game's number one star, scored two goals and an assist and was +3 in his first game action since breaking his foot with the Predators on November 4 versus the Los Angeles Kings.
Haydar may have benefitted the most from having Upshall and Nichol in Admiral sweaters. The Milton, ONT native joined those two to form the Ads top line and scored two goals, his first multi-goal contest since December 14 at Omaha.
Pekka Rinne notched the win for the Ads to run his record to 16-9-1 on the year, including an impressive 13-2 mark at the Bradley Center.
The Admirals will hop on a bus now and travel to Grand Rapids for a 6:00 pm game tomorrow night before coming back to the Bradley Center for a 4:00 pm tilt with Toronto on Sunday. The first 2,500 fans 14-and-under will receive a growth chart courtesy of Children's Hospital. For tickets, fans can call (414) 276-4545 or log on to www.ticketmaster.com.
