Bulldogs Drop Decision to Crunch

Hamilton, ON - The Hamilton Bulldogs had their three-game winning streak ended as they were defeated by the Syracuse Crunch 4-1 on Friday night at Copps Coliseum. Mark Hartigan recorded his second straight hat trick against the Bulldogs this season. The loss also snapped Hamilton's four-game home winning streak, and dropped the team's record to 16-24-0-2.

Bulldogs forward Maxim Lapierre opened the scoring at the 4:54 mark of the first period when his attempted pass to Francis Lemieux was knocked into the net by a Syracuse defenceman.

Syracuse tied the game quickly on a two-man advantage at 6:49 when Mark Hartigan took a shot from the top of the slot that beat Hamilton goaltender Yann Danis high on the glove side.

The Crunch took their first lead of the game at 12:47 of the middle frame when Joakim Lindstrom passed the puck to Hartigan from the corner and Hartigan put it past Danis for his second goal of the game.

Syracuse defenceman Aaron Johnson made it 3-1 at 5:58 of the third period when he deflected a Peter Sarno pass behind Danis.

Hartigan completed the hat trick by scoring an empty net goal with 11 seconds remaining in the third period.

Danis made 27 saves and suffered the loss, while Syracuse goaltender Martin Prusek made 31 saves to earn the victory.

Hamilton was 0 for 9 on the power play while Syracuse was 1 for 7.
