Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins News Release

GLENS FALLS, N.Y. - Tom Kostopoulos tallied a power play goal for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, but the Penguins' offense was otherwise kept stagnant by the Adirondack Phantoms in a 3-1 loss at Glen Falls Civic Center.

On the first man-advantage of the game, the Phantoms took a 1-0 lead at 5:25 when Brandon Manning's point shot got through a screen and past Penguins goalie Jeff Deslauriers.

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton had plenty of opportunity to respond with three consecutive power plays in the latter minutes of the first, including a full two minutes on a two-man advantage. Kostopoulos tied the contest at one with 2:19 until the intermission when he lifted a rebound over a fallen Yann Danis for his eighth of the season.

Adirondack would enjoy its own string of power plays in the second period, but it was a pair of even-strength goals that helped the Phantoms pull ahead.

At 6:57 of the frame, Manning fired a slapshot wide of Penguins net, where Rob Bordson was stationed on the far post to bang the loose puck across the goal mouth. Bordson's feed flipped into the air and was swatted into the net by Petr Straka. Though it was initially waved off, the goal eventually stood as it was ruled that Straka did not play the puck with a high stick.

Chris VandeVelde doubled the Phantoms' margin with 2:46 remaining in the same period, collecting a loose puck in between the hash marks and sweeping it past the left leg pad of Deslauriers.

Danis made sure Adirondack's lead held up as he stopped 27-of-28 shots. Deslauriers made 23 saves for the Penguins.

The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins are back on the ice after Thanksgiving on Friday, Nov. 29 as they face-off against the Binghamton Senators at 7:05 p.m. Tune into all the live game action on the Sports Hub 102.
