Anaheim Ducks Announce Roster Moves

ANAHEIM, Calif . - The Anaheim Ducks announced today that the National Hockey League (NHL) club has reassigned left wing Emerson Etem and right wing Devante Smith-Pelly to the Norfolk Admirals, Anaheim's primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL).

Etem, 21 (6/16/92), appeared in 24 contests with Anaheim, earning 6-410 points with four penalty minutes (PIM) and a +2 rating. He scored his first goal of the season (game-winner) as part of a multi-point night (1-12) on Oct. 20 vs. Dallas. He added his first career multi-goal game (2-02) on Nov. 2 @ Buffalo.

Selected in the first round (29th overall) of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, Etem made his NHL debut with Anaheim in 2012-13, collecting 3-710 points with nine PIM in 38 contests. The Long Beach, California native has appeared in 62 career contests with the Ducks, collecting 9-1120 points with 13 PIM and a +9 rating. He is the highest-drafted Southern California born-and-trained player in Ducks history and the third-highest in NHL history. He has played in 47 career AHL contests with Norfolk and Syracuse, scoring 14-317 points with 14 PIM.

Smith-Pelly, 21 (6/14/92), appeared in 16 contests with Anaheim, earning 1-78 points with two PIM and a +5 rating. He scored his first goal of the season as part of a multi-point night (1-12) on Oct. 31 at Boston. Recalled from Norfolk on Oct. 22, Smith-Pelly has appeared in six games for the Admirals this season, scoring two shorthanded goals (2-02) with a +2 rating and two PIM.

Selected in the second round (42nd overall) of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, Smith-Pelly made his NHL debut with Anaheim in 2011-12, collecting 7-613 points with 16 PIM in 49 contests. The Scarborough, Ontario native appeared in his first contest with the Ducks at 19 years, three months and 23 days on Oct. 7 at Buffalo (Helsinki, Finland), becoming the third-youngest player to appear in an Anaheim uniform. Smith-Pelly scored his first NHL goal on Nov. 9, 2011 vs. Nashville (Rinne). The 6-0, 222-pound winger has appeared in 72 career NHL contests, earning 8-1321 points with 18 PIM. In 75 career AHL contests, he has scored 16-1935 points with 69 PIM.
