Pirates Recall Keven Veilleux from Elmira

Saco, Maine - Phoenix Coyotes Assistant General Manager and Portland Pirates General Manager Brad Treliving announced today that the Portland Pirates have recalled right winger Keven Veilleux from the Elmira Jackals of the ECHL.

Veilleux has spent time with both the Gwinnett Gladiators and the Elmira Jackals of the ECHL this season. A native of St-Georges-de-Beauce, Quebec, Veilleux appeared in 6 games with Elmira, tallying an assist and 14 penalty minutes. Veilleux also appeared in 8 games for Gwinnett, scoring a goal and adding an assist with 14 penalty minutes.

The 6 foot 5, 224 pound right winger was originally drafted round 2 (51st) overall in 2007 NHL Entry Draft by the Pittsburgh Penguins and spent the last 5 seasons in the Penguins system with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins (AHL) and Wheeling Nailers (ECHL). Veilleux signed a one year AHL deal with the Pirates on August 28th, 2013.

The Pirates travel to Hartford to face the Wolf Pack tonight at the XL Center. Puck drops at 7pm. The Pirates will return home on Friday for their annual Black Friday game against the Worcester Sharks. Friday's game will start at 7 pm at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee in Lewiston.
