
Iowa Snaps Skid with 3-1 Win at Chicago

Rosemont, IL - The Iowa Wild (7-11-0-0, 14 points) defeated the Chicago Wolves (9-10-0-2, 20 points) 3-1 in front of 4,526 fans at Allstate Arena on Wednesday night. Arriving 90 minutes prior to faceoff, freshly assigned goalie Darcy Kuemper and right wing Jason Zucker were critical in Iowa ending its six-game losing skid. Zucker scored twice and Kuemper (4-7-0) stopped 32 shots to lead Iowa to victory. Veteran forward Stephane Veilleux also scored as Iowa improved to 4-1-0-0 on the road this season. Chicago goalie Jake Allen (8-4-2) made 19 saves in the loss. Iowa continues a six-game road trip in San Antonio on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
Chicago claimed the first lead of the night, opening the scoring at 7:38 of the first period for the 1-0 lead. Defenseman Evan Oberg snapped a shot to the Iowa net from the blueline and forward Chris Porter tipped the puck past goalie Darcy Kuemper. Wolves forward Ty Rattie added an assist on Porter's second goal of the year. Iowa winger Jason Zucker erased the deficit at 9:50, scoring his fifth goal of the year off a wraparound shot. Forward Brett Bulmer had the lone assist on Iowa's first goal. The Wild took a 2-1 lead at 17:54 of the second period off Stephane Veilleux's second goal of the year. Forward Carson McMillan and defenseman Jon Landry each had an assist on the play. Veilleux picked up a pass in the slot and ripped a shot past Jake Allen.
After a scoreless second period, Zucker received a pass in the Chicago slot from defenseman Jonathon Blum. Zucker snapped his second goal of the night past Allen for the 3-1 Iowa lead at 8:40 of the third period.
The Wild continues a six-game road trip on Wednesday, Dec. 3 at 7 p.m. in San Antonio. After two games at Texas and Abbotsford, the team returns home on Sunday, Dec. 15 to host Rockford at 4:05 p.m. For Sunday's game, the team will hold its first Teddy Bear Toss, where fans are encouraged to throw a stuffed animal on the ice for charity. Fans will be permitted to through Teddy Bears on the ice after the Wild score its first goal of the night. Fans may purchase the Subway Family Four Pack for the game, which features four tickets, four hot dogs, four sodas and Subway coupons starting at $44.
