Nick Johnson Recalled To Wilkes-Barre/scranton

The Pittsburgh Penguins have reassigned forward Nick Johnson from the Wheeling Nailers to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the AHL.

Johnson, 22, has appeared in 18 games with Wheeling this season, recording 24 points (14+10). He leads the Nailers in goals and ranks second in points this season.

The 6-1, 185 pound wing is tied for third in the ECHL in goals and tied for seventh in points.

Johnson made his professional debut with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins last season, suiting up for four regular season games and recording one assist. He also appeared in 10 games during the team's Calder Cup Playoff run.

The Calgary, Alberta native was a 3rd round selection (#67 overall) of the Penguins in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.

Johnson spent four seasons at Dartmouth College, finishing his college career with 125 points (57+68) in 133 games. He led the Big Green with 35 points (10+25) last season, and ranks 10th on the school's all-time scoring list.

The Nailers return to WesBanco Saturday, December 13th at 7:35pm and Sunday, December 14th at 6:05pm with a pair of games vs. the Reading Royals.
