Former Stingray Collins Recalled to the Washington Capitals

North Charleston, SC - The Washington Capitals and general manager George McPhee announced today that former South Carolina Stingrays defenseman, Sean Collins, has been recalled from the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League to the Capitals.

Collins, 25, signed with the Capitals as a free agent in March 2007. This season, the Troy, MI native has played 13 games with the Bears and has four assists. Collins split last year between Hershey and South Carolina, where he led all Stingrays defensemen with nine points (1g, 8a) in 20 playoff games and had another 14 points (1g, 13a) in 31 regular season games.

Prior to turning pro, Collins played four years at Ohio State, serving as the Buckeyes' captain during his senior year. He totaled 87 points (28g, 59a) in 157 college games.

Collins will be available to play for Washington tonight in Toronto.
