Elmira Jackals News Release

Elmira, NY- After beating the Reading Royals 6-3 last night, the Elmira Jackals looked to continue with their winning ways tonight at First Arena when they took on the Trenton Devils. The Jackals found a way to battle back from a two goal deficit, winning the game 3-2.

The scoring got started at the 8:37 mark of the first period thanks to a Jeff Prough goal. Trailing by a goal after the first period the Jackals didn't seem to have much jump in their step being out shot 6-3.

The Second period was a different story. The Jackals unleashed the guns, firing 14 shots on goal and out shooting Trenton 15-4. The Devils took take a 2-0 lead at the 4:31 mark on a goal from Matt Cohen. With Jackals Country ready to throw teddy bears into the ice after the first goal, they would finally get to send their stuffed animals sailing. Kaleb Betts made a beautiful pass to Steve Yetman who slammed home his 12th goal of the season to pull the game to 1-2. After the ice clean up the period would end at 2-1 Trenton.

The Jackals continued to play better hockey in the third period. The Jackals tied the game at 2-2 on a Benoit Doucet wrap around goal, his third goal of the season. Wes Cunningham and Josh Aspenlind assisted at the 3:29 mark. A dog fight ensued through out the final frame. Pierre-Luc Faubert intercepted the puck at the blue line at the 11:22 mark and fired a shot on goal that was tipped by Josh Aspenlind. Aspenlinds fifth goal of the season proved to be the game winner.

With the win the Jackals improve to 11-7-0-2 on the season. The Devils fall to 6-12-1-2 on the year.
