Alaska Aces News Release

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - Chad Painchaud scored twice and assisted on Bakersfield's two other goals as the Condors beat Alaska 4-3 in front of a capacity crowd of 6,251 Friday night at Sullivan Arena.

The Aces (13-6-1) have lost four of their previous five games, all by a single goal, but remain atop the West Division by three points over a second-place logjam including Phoenix, Idaho, and Victoria. The Condors, after not having beaten Alaska in regulation in more than two years heading into Wednesday's game, have climbed to within a game of .500 at 8-9-3.

As they did Wednesday, the Aces scored first, as Cam Keith rifled a snap shot past Bakersfield starter Ryan Nie off the rush at 9:34 of the first period. Kevin Truelson, who had just re-joined the Condors prior to this series, scored his second goal in as many games on a power play with 2:43 left in the frame to create a 1-1 deadlock at the break.

Brett Pilkington, playing his first game for Bakersfield after having suited up for Elmira and Trenton earlier this season, followed up his first period assist with a goal just 68 seconds into the second period, giving the visitors a 2-1 lead. Chad Painchaud pushed the margin to 3-1 only 37 seconds into the final frame on another power play, but Keith countered with his second goal of the night, and seventh of the season, in a four-on-four situation at 5:01.

Alaska had three power plays down the stretch but failed to convert, and Painchaud capped a four-point night with an empty-netter, his fourth goal of the year, at 19:23. That tally turned out to be the game-winner when, after another Condors penalty, Bryan Miller ripped a power play goal past Nie with 20.7 seconds left in regulation. The Aces would not get another shot on goal and lost for the second straight game despite an advantage in shots, 34-27.

Jean-Philippe Lamoureux, named ECHL Rookie of the Month earlier this week, lost for the third straight time, finishing with 23 saves on 26 shots. Alaska looks to avoid a three-game sweep tomorrow night at 7:15 p.m., with Peanut Farm Pre-Game Show coverage on KFQD AM 750 getting underway at 7:00.
